the carbs are MK2 numbers
manifold is AEG347 with 12A661 as well

Car is very original so i dont see why someone would fit MK1 Stuff on a MK2
I think they were using up parts

Just looking for clarification here (for me as much as anybody)

Looking at the carb specs, the AUD146 went from 1964 to 1970, In the English cars, this covers the MK I and MK II cooper/cooper s from memory (the MK II stopped in early 1970?)

Part way through 1970, the first 1275GTs appeared, using a lot of MK II engine parts and AUD440 carbs. In England, the MK III Cooper S also used AUD440 carbs.

Can someone authoritatively (with references, and yes I know what was done in the Mini assemblies) denote the carb types? I have access to an original MK II Cooper S (English) that has AUD146 carbs in it with AUC870/871 bodies. Arrrgh.

Mumble, mumble, mutter

Perhaps not answering your specific questions but adding information to the discussion is the reference section of the SU Carb website. Here's the section on Cooper carbs.

Keith - you mention 1275GT but I assume you mean Clubman GT?

Yes I do. Checked the parts book and yes, it's Clubman.

Cheers,

I wasn't trying to be a smarty pants when asking as the two often get confused. The UK produced 1275GT is a different beast to the Oz produced Clubman GT, the latter having Cooper S power plant and running gear whereas the 1275GT was more modestly powered. :)

Just thinking:
AUC 1341 1342 did not have the breather in the carb body.
AUC 870 871 did have the breather cast (although not necessarily drilled).

In the UK during 1969 the breathers were introduced and they did away with the PCV system. Is it possible thats when the AUD440 tag would have come in?

Hmmm, just been looking at a pile of carb bits at one of the Mini places over here.

None of the AUC870/1 he has have the breathers in position. Some of them have the vacuum fitting for the advance? (Single carb systems?)

Looking at the English MK III Cooper S parts list, the whole carb assembly is not given a part number (I can't find it anyway), The left carb is CUD9123, the right is CUD9124.
The carb bodies are AUD9991 and AUD9994 respectively. Both have the breather in place.

Did the MK III Cooper S ever appear in Australia?

Cheers,
