If they had moved the rotodip to Enfield, maybe the LS's wouldn't have dissolved so fast...
My boss/mate has 4x LS, all off the road... one (shell only, kept indoors) is almost rust free!

ha!

Hard to believe, but I have a 1978 Clubby S here with NO rust..
It's slightly bent in front though, the `keep left' sign won.

hahaha.... you just couldnt take someone telling you how to drive could ya....:P

It's depressing really , look how many '62/'63 850's are still around with little rust compared to late clubbies .

Common Ian...I thought you would back me up
I think I'm on a loosing battle here

My (old) LS is pretty good all over, but I put it down to the previous owner having obviously stored it really well.

I don't know how kind the tropical Cairns weather will be to it however...

Its amazing really isn't it. We have a 64 model 850 with only the tiniest spot of rust just starting to bubble under the paint near the moustache. Yet our 1275LS nugget gold has more rust than all our minis. So what was the deal? Why is it that all our morris's have little rust, yet our leylands all have cancer? Even our 12 month old Navara STX has more rust in it already (nissan is coping a caning) than the 44 year old 850.

Up to 1974 all Minis got rotodipped in the Zetland plant- pre-treatment and primer got into all the nooks and crannies like A pillars, roof etc.
After 1974 they were built at Enfield without this facility.

just like everything that is so excellent, there must be a bad point about it. The 1275LS is excellent in everyway, so the one downfall is just a SLIGHT bit of rust everynow and again :P

The best mini ever (after the sunshine of course... and no I am not biased in any way)
