The trouble here is that you have a service bulletin from BMC and you are taking it as a fact.
From what I have seen there are quite often mistakes in what was on paper.
I have one book that says thet they stopped fitting ID plates in July, I have another book that says June. Both books are from BMC/Leyland so which book is correct?
I also have a book that says compliance plates were fitted from Jan 1 1970, but I have seen a plate stamped with Dec 69. So do you believe the book or the plate?
Like I said, I have not seen a compliance plate from Nov, Oct or Sep.

i cant see the big deal you can buy a compliance plate (old type and new type) stamp it with the correct stamps and nobody would know (just throw some sump oil on the letters for the aged look.

There are two different size compliance plates.
There are three different versions of the second sized plate.
The plate features three different sized fonts on each plate.
Good luck with making one.

All 4 styles?
I have seen the ID plates for sale and they have the wrong font and are easily picked out as fakes.
So are the 3 versions of the compliance plate any better. :D

If they are available why do all the Mini and MG places sell replicas of the ID plate? :?

Even if you can get the original factory compliance plates can you get all three types? And can you reverse machine stamp all the required information correctly in all the different fonts and sizes?

if people can pass off fake money surely a vehicle compliance plate is not that much of a stretch for those who would want too.
