LEDs are Light Emitting Diodes. This means that current will only flow one way through the diode and in doing so emit light. The LED will have a flat on one side which indicates the cathode lead which needs to be connected to negative battery polarity (earth for negatively earthed cars). I fconnected in reverse, no current flows and no light is emitted. You also need to limit the current flow through each LED by using a resistor in series. If not it will emit light briefly before it catches Lucas disease. Most LEDs operate in the range of 15 to 50 Ma. Resistors in the range of 1KOhm to 330Ohm at 1/4 watt will accomplish that.

Sure will but you need to reverse the diode polarity. This time the anode (the other lead) goes to earth if its a positive earthed car.

good question! LED's do have polarity, the LEDs would need to be soldered into the board backwards, a simple matter of turning them around the other way

Wouldn't you just hook the unit it up the other way round?

I haven't set a price - when I do I'll let everyone know before you need to commit

I need to buy the bits to make my 2nd one, so I'll do a parts list when I do that
