The HTCAV monthly meeting last night mentioned that the Under 3ltr Grp N race is a full grid of 55 cars and as at last night the Over 3 ltrs is only 7 cars short and expected to fill..............

It going to be another big meeting !

Sorry Simon K! I seriously thought about going in it but when I took a good look at it I realised I am not ready. The money wasn't really the issue, it was all the other things that go along with it. I thought it may have been worth pointing out what I knew so others thinking about it will either do it or realise you just can't turn up on the day. I wasn't trying to put a dampener on it.
The mini mag says you can hire a timer from Dorian Industries in Hoppers Crossing. I looked it up and their number is 9931 1371. Not sure of the cost though.

the track should hire out dorian timers.. they arent all that expensive.. ours wasnt even expensive to buy from memory. make sure you all have nice long gearing when you go, the run from mg to turn one is flat out, especially in a slower car, turn one will probably be flat also (if your game) my main concern would be popping motors for people who want to be craig lowndes. if i was eveyrone who is running a registered car there id remove your plates before doing this, because if you have even a non speed related accident, your insurance company will not cover you, because they will find the photos on the internet etc. god im always bringing cheer and joy

thanks Sean... I need to review your laps on youtube in the porsche to see what the track looks like. I went to Phillip Island once when I was a kid, but only to see the penguins. I have no idea of the layout, speeds or lap times

I plan to take my cooper to a practice day at Winton some time in Feb to give it a shake down...

if anyone has tips for the track, please post them up!

go out there and have fun ......its not a race, its a regularity!! The car that does the closest, consistant times to what they nominated gets the chocolates!! Not first over the line.

My best time around the Island is 2m 25sec (slowest 2m 35sec it all depended on traffic, nom time 2m 30sec).....dampish track, street tyres, 1293cc, no adjustable suspension and far from light full interior etc etc....

A regularity is all about consistency...you don't have to rev the [insert a non-PC three letter word] of it, just stroke it along....it should not be a challenge...use your brakes more than the gearbox

Just make sure you have pads suited to track work...so really...you have no excuse...at all :!: :P :D

There's four letters in tits, and there's no chance I'm not going to throw a bootful in on the best track in Oz :)

stop forcing him to make up lame excuses..... if he doesn't want to race, it's OK

my dad is always making up lame excuses, people just need to learn to say "I don't want to race"

some people are just born wusses

It's not lame! It's valid!
The engine will probably have less than 500 klicks on it..
