Guys - whats the best way to ID HS6 SU's - I notice the overflow (for the want of a better word on the top of the bowl - I have these on my S but have never seen this before..

I also note the different manifold mount (orientation) for the carby's - is that an indicator ??

HS6 looks much like an HS4 (Clubby 998 etc) but has 4 bolt holes in a square flange, and the bore at that flange is 1-3/4".
They came in both LH bowl and RH bowl versions. Either will work as a single.

The SU Midel Fuel Systems Catalogue has a wealth of information. Below are the HS2, HS4 and HS6 pages. I've also included the Index page so you can see what else it contains but size (and copyright) issues restrict how much I can put up here.

If others want it I suggest these images be included in the Carburettor sticky.

I used to run twin Amal Monobloc 1-3/16" (L&RH) on my 1052 motor, then a 1220. The steel home made manifold could be no more than 15 degrees, or they would flood the motor through the idle jets.
They worked great but the throttle slides tended to stick at idle.
So, you then often either stalled it at the lights, or left the line in a cloud of tyre smoke (which Mr Plod didn't mind back then) 8)
