Try VPW for the BBF rod bolts:

I've unfortunately had to spend about a grand there over the last fortnight, but was very well looked after and saved HEAPS (helped that I discovered that I knew the guy at the counter!).

Thanx for that- I'll get some for the next build.
I was desperate on Monday, so spent $160 on 8 ARP `S' bolts/nuts. Nice bolts, shame about the price..

I could of saved you 50 odd bucks there or more..........

Just ordered some BBF ones, from the nice people at VPW... :P
For my next motor (1430? stroker) and Ozmotorsport's 1380 rebuild.

Kev, when you run it on GR's dyno, have him check the mixture thru the range, the 36 chokes may not be BIG enough! Still haven't got my head back. Steve

Don't think I'll really need 38s, in a road car..
I'll take a few air correctors and main jets. Nobody keeps Dellorto stuff do they!

Well the 1360's now ready to drop on the box..
I painted it with `S' paint (MINI346 from Padstow Pirates), I brushed it this time. Looks better than my spray job on Barney's motor.. maybe I used the wrong thinners then!

Took the old motor out today, off the box and had a gander up at #4 piston. Piston skirt seems to be all there, no spare parts in the oil, it's probably just cracked.
So, a quick wash out of the box, change the diff from a 3.44 to a 3.64, whack the 1360 on it, and it's ready to dyno, or bung back in..

Bottom of skirt looks fine. But it must be collapsed or cracked, or the piston wouldn't rock like it does (serious rock!!)
I'll pop it out in the morning and take some pics...

Got my stroker crank back today, std/std, 84.3mm stroke... pity I can't put it in this motor now, but it'll go in the next... 8)

OK the motor is in bits now..
#4 piston was all there, it has gone out of round on the skirt so the thrust faces collapsed and it partially seized near the pin bosses.
Also 2 of the 3 compression rings were stuck tight.

Probably had one rev to 8,000 too many- these pistons are 25 year old antique Mahle flat tops..

Anyhow the 1360 is now sitting on the S box, I've just got to put the 3.64 diff in and it's ready to rock and roll.
Dunno whether to dyno it at GR's while it's out, or run it in properly- then put it on the rollers next time we go. 8)

Doc...how long had the Gudgeon Pins been installed...could there have been some rocking and rolling in there that caused the piston to slap around?? just wondering....
