had a call back from Shannons this morning. It seems they are in the process of changing the rules so that there is no age excess for drivers under 25 where the car is over 35 yo. There was no explanation as to why I wasn't given this information yesterday when I called, apparently the person I spoke to had been there 10 years and was considered one of their better operators!

I would be very interested to find out more about the excess being waved!

Basically as it was explained to me today from approximately 10 days time there will be no additional age excess for under 25's applicable to cars over 35 years old - this will be a rolling 35 years

I had to ring and ask. Then the phone operator had to ask someone else....

Cheers,
Mark.

Because as of today (22 July), we no longer offer Vintage and Veteran cover to new customers......if your vehicle is already with GIO and on the Vintage and Veteran cover, you'll continue to be covered, but no new customers. That'll be why everyone is a bit sketchy about the coverage, and are having to check. It's not because everyone is an idiot except you.

im with GIO and they are excellent... they didnt even question why i wanted to insure my van for a certain amount, plus u get choice of repairer, hire car offer, low premuims and everything and i mean everything on my van is covered.

and the staff on the phone was great.

better then NRMA and Shannons if u ask me.

Check your PDS, and get a PDS from Shannons, NRMA, and whoever else. I like GIO because they spell it all out really easily and you know what's covered without having to consult with a solicitor. They need to teach GE and Telstra how to write a PDS!!!

Hmmm, looks like I'm staying with Shannons then.
I had my Mini with Vigil for 6 years, but every year they dropped the sum insured. That's why I'm now with Shannons...

Doc's right, I'm talking about the Vintage and Veteran cover that GIO offers.

I received (GIO veteran & vintage) cover only last week for Boris (but I am an existing customer anyway).

Will call them tomorrow and get some feedback

I said that the option ended today, not last week.

Chow, very true you did say that.
And I simply posted a remark on this forum regarding my experience with GIO.
I also offered to call them and try to extract more information about the suspension of the policy offer.

I am with Shannons and my 4 cars are on the one policy.I also have my contents and home insurance with them.
I used to be with NRMA for 35 years but shannons beet all there quotes.

I received a letter from Shannons yesterday and they now do green slips, interesting to see what there price will be.

On another note shannons service is excellent, about 18 months ago my daughter ran over a metal tool box (don't laugh) that fell out of a ute and she damaged the sump and oil pickup tube.Shannons was at my house the next day to assess the damage and told me to take it to amechanic to fix it,how is that for service.

Sorry, I read that back after what Tiny wrote, and I think you took it the wrong way (maybe I wrote it the wrong way??). I wasn't have a go at you, just clarifying that the coverage was now unavailable. I didn't mean it to sound like I was snapping.
