also a side note, unless u have a late model uk tank this plan will be out, and need modifying. ( our fuel tank is smaller)

Im going to make mine out of aluminium, and then anodise it red, black, silver or maybe a combination.
That second set of drawings is worth a look as well, bit more complicated as it covers some areas under the dash, but together they allow to make a pretty good unit.

you dont want the aluminium to short circuit the battery

I won't be making a boot with metal, too heavy. The boot'll be done with fibreglass.
I wouldn't be putting any wood compound between a petrol tank and a battery.
