Can you get hold of a Gunsons Colourtune (see thru spark plug), that might help you see what's happening.

Ekk old photo with Log Manifold, Tube on the left is the over flow and the one on the right and slightly higher I have attached to the tappet chest breather.
Have you cleaned the Dashpot and Piston and another trap I got court on once ensure the needle and seated are flush to the base of the piston

why is your vacum pipe missing?

spot the difference.. yes i know the fuel overflow is meant to have a pipe on it.. i took it off to see if anything was happenin
