I recently bought my red mini van off of Hamish. (some of u will know what Van it is) It runs an 1996 spi engine. Hamish, the legend he is parted some of his wealth of knowledge to me. go on the uk mini website and there is a whole section on the spi engines. You only have about 2 options when it comes to cams. Also, do you have a factory diagnostic tool? you'll need it to tune it. I have one. It came with the car. Do the research on the uk websights, don't go overboard and enjoy the reliability and fuel economy. No tuning carbs every weekend. In the short time i've owned the van i've learnt heaps about the spi. It's not that scary after you research it.
