Sorry to sink your boat Gaf but it was proven non-effective in a hot fours and rotaries a few years back - tried every manner of hairsprays, clear laquers, vaso and even glad wrap(like to see that stick for any length of time...lmao)

I went through Melbourne 18 months ago and "forgot" the E tag thingy - still havent got a fine - maybe they should swap the cameras from front to back..

What size wheels are you running? 145's or 165's? I can see just how massive a hazard a 0.001" deep groove 145mm wide would be!
VicMini13, I take it you ended up paying..? So much for our legal system, innocent until proven guilty, etc. Same deal with speed cameras, even the ones that book 120Y's at near the imperial ton! :x You should write into the RACV and motoring magazines about it. They love a story like that, where the traditional judiciary system is completely bypassed by a single individual, who could be anywhere between blase/relaxed/carefree and power-obsessed/mean/cranky. And if what you say is true, he's booked you when you're innocent... :x Surely there has to be some means of appeal. And if there isn't, there should be one set up...
Thankfully, Queensland has only three toll plazas that I know of... :) Still three too many! :x

I never use etags. There for whimps! 8) However I have received a fine from citylink.
The fines that I didn't recieve well that is another story. - turns out the car that I was driving was still in the previous owners name, as they hadn't handed in the transfer papers. It was fully registered to me, but all when my registration exprired, they sent the sticker to the previous owners. Lucky they didn't steal it back off me.

Actually if the RACV etc magazines aren't interested and you can handle sinking so low try the likes of Today tonight and a current affair , it's the type of story they'd use.

I've been seriously considering that as a means of complaining about the state of the Calder Freeway heading out of Keilor. It's gotten so rough that they have dropped the speed limit to 80kph and I still hit my head on the roof of the mini in several places and get my wheels off the ground climbing out of one particularly deep dip.  I would love to strap the local member into the passenger seat for a quick ride.

This interesting topic bring up something I've been thinking about for a long time... a motorized number plate. At the press of a button the back number plate spins to another plate... perhaps "TEE HEE" or "FREEBY" or something like that

I hearby do not endorse or take responsibility for my above comment

Be like some concreters I know who thought it was a great joke to cover the ute's number plate with duct tape and go through a fixed speed camera too fast at Tenterfield every afternoon at the same time with one of them in the back with sunnies and a hat holding a stubbie up for the camera . The 4th day there was a copper waiting for them and the first thing he said was "how could you be so stupid to do this every day at the same time" ..... Don't even think of trying to cover or modify a number plate , they went right through the ute and the three concreters and ended up with a phenominal amount of fines and defects .

I drive on it every day to work in my mini and forgot to have my etag with me a couple of times (left it in my missus car) and was billed an extra amount for not having it so its not as if minis are too small. If your number isnt visible then the cops will probably get you at some point for not having it properly diplayed! They are still debating introducing front number plates for motorbikes again (yes, they used to have them) for this reason. I wouldn't suggest for the sake of $1.50 or whatever it is now for a single section you risk a $100- plus fine.

I know a certain ex-courier driver who had a cable fastened to the front numberplate which was on a hinge. As he approached the toll gates he can pull the plate upwards, then push it back out when he was through them. Very naughty!

My number plate is 100% legal. It has not been shifted or modified in anyway at all. The only reason it cant be seen by their cameras is due to the fixed angle the camera is set on. As long as the car meets the ADR's that it is compliant too, there is no need to modify!

Instead of buying day passes all the time, why don't you get Citylink Access? :?

Agreed. I used to use the Access Account - great idea if you only use it infrequently.

Then i started using it more so they suggested i get the eTag. :)

My father lives on a dirt road, so after a visit my numberplate disappears. Handy for the trip back into tollwayland
