This is not a one way street either. When out in my 03 Cooper, I always wave, flash lights at any classic Mini I see and more often than not, get no response. If they feel the same as some of you about the new Mini which is why they don't respond, then my response would be "well get f*^ked yourself and get a life" If they are just unaware of the 'mini community' then we need to encourage, not the other way around. And I'm middle aged! Generalisations don't usually do anyone any justice (damn....this is a generalisation).
:?
Granted I'm in NZ and don't know what the go is in Oz, but we too have a long history with minis and don't see the situation being different here than in Oz.

reading some of the stuff above...I just shook my head....If someone waves to me in ANY car...I will wave back.

If I wave to someone and for some reason they dont wave back me then I certainly don't sulk all day......nobody forced me to wave...and you never know whats happening in the other car anyway...sheesh they could be driving at gunpoint, blueing, having a bad hair day, worried about a noise, enjoying their favourite music or trying to hear a newsflash.

I say wave if you want to but dont make a federal case out of it people.......

I'll wave or thumbs up any mini I see and I'm on public transport these days, i'll do it if i'm crossing the road even. And yeah I get a strange nutter look from the driver. The reason I got interested in minis is the vast culture and social activity that comes with owning a mini. I dont care if people dont wave back as long as the culture that made minis classic lives. So what if someone has a Bini, to me thats the same as dont wave he has a clubman, or dont wave its not a real cooper, rover, austin, bmc. It's a shame that a recent re-branding, new concept has been snubbed so. Its a new marque of mini and not be regarded as fake mini but looked as an opportunity for the culture to live longer. The only thing which seems to be missing is education between old and new mini owners.

Cheers
