One kinda wonders about the younger generation .... the cars were built to commute. What else would you do with them??

Well yes there are hillclimbs rallys, races.... but basically they were designed to drive to work.

The real beauty of the Mini is that it still does exactly what it was designed to do 50 years ago.

If I spent the amount of money on my Mini that we spend on routine servicing of my Wife's Subaru (and previous) Honda it would be pretty flash..

Cheers, Ian

Don't be too hard on the bloke Ian. I ran over there tonight and checked his car out. He's done a real good job considering no previous mini experience. There are a few mod cons that he will need in modern traffic, mainly for safety reasons like a rear brake light in the rear window, convex mirror on the passenger side so you can actually see stuff in it etc.

He's genuinely enthused about minis which is what we all must support in the younger generation, right?

I wasn't being hard on him.. just suggesting he stop faffing about and just do it...

If anything my argument would be with those suggesting about electronic ignitions etc.

Having been there and done that I would suggest simplicity rules. When electronics play up you have pretty much no option other than to replace the lot... BTDT. With points you can actually see what's wrong and fix it.

After many years use the electronics finally threw a whammy. Luckily the points I'd discarded 20 years ago were still in the door pocket and they've worked fine for several years now.

BTW I totally agree with the high level brake light (couple of dollars at Repco - or you can spend more for a pretty one :) but don't use a pass side mirror.

IMHO Minis hate being stashed in a garage. The more you use them the better they like it...

Cheers, Ian

Don't hang around in people's blind spots
Assume no one knows you're there
Don't tail gate people
Don't speed
Brake early and gradually

All the things normal drivers should do, that no one bothers doing.
