I agree with MG Rocket, I think you all need to chill out. I wish I had never asked the question. In fact I don't really care what year it is. I am not bothered if it has the wrong widget fitted for that year or not. I was just curious. I like minis but they don't give me wet dreams. Get a life folks.

Everyone on here has been trying to help you , but you seem to be a very angry person for some reason ,and you seem very unwilling to respond to any requests for info about the mini you are trying to date or to check for any of the things suggested to look for .......

I think what annoyed people was the lack of effort you appeared to put in to getting more info for them. They told you what they needed, you cant expect to be spoon fed.

Maybe we can start again and you get get all the info they need to date/identify the car and everyone can be happy? :D

As someone old enough to have actually owned an anorak - I would suggest this is not a term you would use in a friendly discussion over beer. Its a warm coat especially associated with a number of slightly odd activities; bird watching, train spotting and the (UK) rallying scene come to mind. To call someone an anorak is close to accusing them of a touch of OCD.

Look that up in your Funk and Wagnells

:) Ian

Ohhhhhhh you think so John?....

you two might not think so...but hey, as far as I am concerned, both you and the Doc are the definition of obsessive! (in the nicest possible way, don't stop what you are doing  )

To put my two bobs worth in we need the the guys who know the ins and outs to teach they guys who dont and want to learn more. No point pissing off the people who you want answers from. anyway i think parkers were also underrated. those of you not old enough ask yer dad

... or, better still, someone to take the lead and publish a book specific to the anatomy of Australian Minis like Parnell has done for the UK Coopers and others have done for other marques. I've given Watto a few subtle hints and also suggested John Smidt take some time off on a desert island to write down his accumulated knowledge but they both seem too busy to find the time. I don't think there's any one person who knows everything so it would need to be a shared effort.

If such a document existed keithb may not have needed to ask the forum about the approximate date of his vehicle.

Okay now that everyone has given their two bobs worth. I was want to offer my deepest apologies to all concerned. It wasn't my intention to offend people or put them down. I was under the misunderstanding that BMC Australia would have had records of build years and by giving a chassis number it would be easy to advice what year a car was made. It appears they didnt which i a shame. Thanks everyone for attempting to assist, but I will not be pursuing an answer for my original question.
Once again sorry for any offence caused.

A cop car was following me yesterday. he pulled up along side me and shouted "Pullover" - I replied "Cardigan, but thanks for noticing"
