I've got a 1330 with a 45 weber and twin su on a 1310. I agree with others that everyday driving the su carbs win hands down, but nothing beats the noise of the weber for the weekend drive

IMO sidedraft Webers & Dellortos are easier to tune, IF you have an A/F ratio meter.
With an SU you are never sure that the needle you are using (out of the 700? available) is the optimum one.

[Waits for GR the SU man to jump on here and demolish my arguments..] :P

Noting that GR "beat" the great Keith Calver (Weber) using SUs 8)

Was a while ago...
But GR's Nb racer runs a 45 Weber, as do most in the class, not SUs.

So you think it was a fluke Doc :?: :P ...I think not...

As has already been said...SUs seem to be favoured for road...but track is Weber country

Agree 100%

And with HS4's, even better.

Look (and probably feel) as nice as Katrina Rowntree's breasts :P

I had six Mini's at the same time once when I was living in Tassie! Real estate here is just too dam expensive for a large garage, one Mini, four Ducati's and nine pushbikes is all I have room for! Plus tools of course. I just need to convince my better half to park her Volvo out side if I want the second Mini :D

When I got the mini I wanted to put the webbers on...

How bad does it get on fuel? lol

I dont use it daily. mainly only on cold days, shows and weekend mornings. Sometimes I use it to get to work. I would love that weber sound tho

Most Webers jetted on the dyno for HP run too rich for the street.
Borrow an A/F ratio meter with a tailpipe sensor, and go for a drive. My Dellorto doesn't drink fuel anymore since rejetting.. but still goes hard.

A friend has a Mk2S,1360cc, it had twin HS4s on but they were worn, and hard to keep in tune.
He wanted less hassles with starting and more reliability for a daily driver, so we put a 45 Dellorto on it.
After getting the jetting right, he is very happy. Not been touched since we jetted it 12 months ago.
