PM John Smidt and ask him about the boot lock barrel mod. :)

[edit]If you look at this Minispares pic you can see the UK door and boot lock barrels are different lengths.

I went to this guy on park street, south melbourne. As soon as i walked in he guessed straight away that it was a mini because "its the only car with so many keys"
I went there so i could get my doors and boot the same key and to copy them all. It only ended up costing me $40 or something! :)
So now i have 3 keys: the doors/boot, ignition, and fuel

Thanks for all the replies/suggestions etc.

Still weirds me out that my 970 has only 1 key and yet it's 6 years older....wtf?

Roundies all had 1 key when new, Clubbies with a steering lock had 2.

These days, some locksmiths just seem incapable of keying old locks alike. :(

Clubby vans came with 3 keys and saloons came with 2 so the owners instruction manual says on page 11

http://britishcarkeys.com/images/large_ ... n_keys.gif

Vans came with the top 1st and 3rd key as well

I was told that clubby/leyland minis came with 3 keys off a bloke i brought a complete steering coloumn off

It came with 1 original ignition key and 2 original fs keys with numbers and the oblong shape key was one of them

looks like he was wrong and i just found out that coloumn was out of a van

You can still buy clubman/leyland door locks new

And the round nose looks to have had the ignition key only for the doors and boot

Just had a look in the drivers handbooks akd3886 ,akd1174g and tp757c all said the same thing
