FFS! Put the rainbow banner away. No-one ever made any comment about the fact that you are gay. I didn't know that you are and don't care that you are. What does is have to do with anything???

I have nothing against gay people, but I cannot stand it when they have to make a point about the fact that they are, especially when it has NOTHING to do with the topic at hand.

Thanks morphias

Topic at Hand

Are you coming on Sunday?

Times 9am to 2ish. There will be people leaving from Padstow going to Riverstone to look at Kana cross practice for beginers.

The last two times I went late comers were allowed to participate if they were club members or signed up on the day. Great day out lots of fun. I really injoyed it the last two time I went.

Are you going to either?

Bit of a hike from Brisbane mate! :)

I will be going to look at some '63 850 to replace my current one. It is starting to look like it will be cheaper to get another shell and repair it than repair the existing one. :(

I hope everyone has a top day at either/both events! :)

Didn't know you were so far away

I love 850's i hope its a good one Mikey and I have a Nov 60, May 62, Nov 64. 850's are pure as originally invisaged by Iissigonis.

People say don't buy Queensland cars because of rust as they only need to go over the pits once or something. I've never understood that as Sydney is on the coast as well.

Is their much problem with rusty cars? I certainly go and look at cars in Sydney with minimal rust and when I got there have to bit my tongue which as everybody knows I have trouble doing.

Surely between us there must be a spare working master cylinder to fix Emma's brakes at Makkas on Saturday night? Emma might get lucky.

Hey People

I just want to clarify a couple of points, and answer a few comments, then I PROMISE THIS WILL BE THE LAST YOU HEAR FROM ME PUBLICLY ON THE MATTER :!:

First of all, we have contacted Mini Spares to make sure there were no mis-understandings, and to make sure that nobody there was upset. As I suspected, this was something that was massively blown out of proportion, and from what I can gather the guys there are very happy to be associated with both Ausmini and the Mini Club.

I will personally visit John on my next day off to introduce myself to him, and to make sure there is no possible ill-feelings. I understand that he IS happy to run another day similar to this Sunday, at a later date. I am sorry I (and several of our members) will not be able to make it this Sunday as we have already been committed to running our motorkhana training day (See Events and Planned Cruises :) ). I hope everyone has a good day and scores a bargain!! As I have said previously, our intention was never to try and move the day that has already been organised, but I thought that repeating the day later so more MCC members could make it would not only provide our members with a good day out and the chance of a bargain, but it would also be another good chance for John to further promote his business.

Secondly, as I have also mentioned previously, it was never my intention to start a public slanging match. Nobody benefits from this. I just felt it necessary to answer unfounded criticisms and to set a few things straight. I once again apologise for dragging everyone else through this.

As the committee member of the NSW Mini Club who uses Ausmini most regularly, I would like to put myself forward for anyone at all to approach with any issues they have regarding the club - be they suggestions, ideas or even complaints. I just ask people to do it in a PM or email rather than just stand up on a soap-box and start ranting. I am approachable and flexible, and am always looking for ways to bring new life and new members to the club.

Steve wrote:
I just thought it was poor of our committee to have a go at John Smidt because he was good enough to offer opening on his only day off and have a BBQ through his interest in Ausmini its got nothing to do with mini club.
And yet............................
Steve wrote:
silly committee some of its committee members and membership participate and are part of Ausmini.
People on Ausmini approached John and he said fine MCC could have, as MCC members participate on Ausmini they are all welcome
So which is it, Are we all welcome, or does it have nothing to do with the club??

Still... Right on. If everyone was as laid-back and easy going as that, the club, and even the world would be a happier place. 8)

FFS...why do you people do this HERE???

Send these messages in a f*n PM.

You all look like big girl's blouses!
I agree - which is exactly why I have asked people to PM or email me with any future complaints.

Was an invitation extended to him to go to the MCC swap meet seeing as though he has an entire warhouse full of new old stock seperate to Mini Spares Centre Group, NO they didn't.
This would have had more merit as a suggestion if it was brought up before the swap meet, not nearly a week after. No I didn't invite John, nor did I invite anyone personally. The information was distributed as far and wide as I could manage given the time and resources available to me. If you thought John would have wanted to come along, in your vast dealings with him, and as someone who loves the club dearly, I'm sure you could have mentioned to him that he could come along. I actually didn't think of inviting any businesses at all to the event, so I'm sure John won't harbour me any ill-will for not thinking of him in particluar :)

and people put crap on me because of my car ......
Have you seen my car lately??  I don't know who in the club has put crap on you for your car, but if it does happen, this is one person's view - NOT THE CLUB'S!!! This is one of the things that I have been trying very hard to work on. Getting all Mini's accepted, and getting the people with cars they think won't be accepted to realise they are.

I have spoken a few times to Brad (13Sec) about bringing his car along to some club events. He has said to me that he is intending to join the club, and is happy to bring the beast along to a meeting so everyone can have a look at it as it's a bloody interesting car. I just hope this little frakkar hasn't affected that at all.

Anyone who thinks new or modified cars aren't accepted obviously didn't see everyone swoop on Brad's car at the swap meet to have a gander - that car generated a helluva lot of interest, and that's what we're about. People who are interested in cars!! :D

Steve wrote:
Wasn't the MCC chat forum you became moderator of get shut down through nasty personally attacks and inapproriate comments?
Yes it was, temporarily. It is back in action now, just has some simple ground rules now to stop things getting out of hand. And Steve, you know where a lot of those inappropriate comments came from I'm sure.
Steve wrote:
Silly but I think some people are anti ausmini and do this stuff behind closed doors so it needs to be said.
I have absolutely no idea where you get this from. It has me baffled where you could get the idea from that we would be anti Ausmini!! We have put a link to Ausmini from the club website, and welcome any Ausmini people to the club with open arms.

Springers Final Thought:-I hope everyone can believe that the bitchiness and politics are very rare in the Mini Club, and what you have seen here is the exception rather than the rule. I have said it a few times, but just want to make the point very strongly, I won't comment publicly any further on the matters raised. As a few have said, it's gone far enough. If anyone wants to carry it on, email me with your concerns/questions.

I would say rust is no more of a problem up here than anywhere else. We are talking about 40 odd year old cars and most nearly of the good shells have already been taken. I bought what I though was an excellent car till I got the seam covers off. :( The floor, doors, roof, etc where all excellent. Of come the seam seem covers only to find NO SEAMS! Ah well...fingers crossed i find a good shell this weekend. 8)
