Yes. We all know that will be the final result.
But going straight to the answer misses the pleasure of discussing possibilities and turning over all those scraps of detail buried in our memories.

My June 1967 mk 1 S which definitely has the original slam panel, has the horn mounted on the Lockheed nose bracket mounting bolt, via the 'normal' slam panel bracket, attached to the inner guard. There are no holes for it on the slam panel.

Can you post a photo so I can see how it looks and the amount of clearance it has? I have a few engine bay photos that show horns down in that area but they are not very clear.

I'll post a photo in the next couple of days. There is a heap of room down there, no problems with any clearances.

As you can see, there is plenty of room under the Lockheed booster. When mounted on the slam panel, the horn is dangerously close to the solenoid.

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

A cooper s slam panel would need to be restamped in a press to add the horn mount holes. My understanding is the body shop tended to stamp large sets of panels and store them in a upstairs storage area of the body shop. So they would stamp up a stock of these at the factory.

Perhaps they ran short of the "special" panels and simply made do using a "normal" panel and relocating the horn? Only problem I could see with this is that they would have to unwrap the wiring harness for the wires to reach to near the booster.

Fits ok using one bolt hole and mounting the bracket horizontal. The horn may hit the booster if using 2 holes vertically like in bubbaclubys earlier photos.
