I put the H/S drive flanges back on the 1360 and gave the block and head a fresh coat of Cooper S green metallic.
Almost ready to drop back in now. :P

Mick and I pumped her up again. All is well again. Mick got handy with a rubber mallet on the RH apron as it was fouling very slightly on tyre going on left lock. Thanks for your help Mick.

No problems. What can't be fixed with a hammer, may be fixed with a mallet.

Permanently fitted the Techedge Wideband O2 in the Mini. Now th Megasquirt knows what the O2 is doing.
Repaired the battery cable with double walled heatshrink near the front subframe.
Replaced the lead battery clamps with some brass ones, as I was getting a little to much voltage drop when cranking (7.5V). Is better now (8.5V), but would prefer it to be higher, the battery is getting a bit old so I will replace it when I can afford it.
Went for a drive to do some logging, stopped into MacDonald's to have a late lunch and use their free WiFi, since I have none at home at the moment. 8)

(yesterday) Painted the load tray on the van and the drivers side wall, so all the interior painting is finished.

Wired up the (LED powered) numberplate lamp & tested.

Stripped all the plugs out of the block and cleaned all the threads, it's ready for a proper clean now :D

cheers

Jacob

Today i've pulled off the cover plates and started the process of pulling out the lines for the brakes and fuel.
I found $2.10 so far and 1 worrying thing. My hand brake has been bolted back on at some point after being ripped off. So that will be job #1 with my newly borrowed mig.

Body work. But I have a patch about a square inch to weld in and I've just found out I forgot to turn off the argoshield at the cylinder so I'm all out. I've also run out of argon so I can't TIG it. And the gas supply places aren't open till Wednesday.

So I'm masking up for racing stripes :)

Backed the car back into the garage after resetting carb balance and mixture after a big run to Cordeaux dam a few weeks ago - car ran well but a litlle too lean.

.......walked around the front and found......a big trail of oil and a pool of it under the engine... :(

Checked the oil level - still above minimum :D .......checked all items including oil cooler and fittings - only found oil under the filter - guess it blew the sealing ring or something. Will take it off and check tomorrow when it all cools down........

Hopefully something simple like that?????

Reminds me to put on the bonnet strips I have sitting in the packet!

Today I:
Crimped and soldered a 6 way automotive connector for my Smiths stepper motor rev counter. Also put an in line 3A blade fuse... for just in case. Will fit to car tomorrow after I program the Megasquirt to output a "tacho output" on one of it's spare pins.
Used some emery paper to remove marks on the spare SU bell housing that a friend machined in his lathe. This will cover the SU carb adapter on my HIF44 TBI project. Not sure whether I'll then polish or glass bead it.

Not much, but it is Sunday after all!

Averted a disaster! - replaced the short brake hose I had connected for the correct long one. In doing so I thought I would tighten the brake line to the T piece on the firewall as I did think I had done a good job previously as other things were in the way - Decided to remove the clutch hose to give more room and notice the slave cylinder moving - long story but the treads into the Wok were stripped when I put it together and had re-tapped to the next size up but when I came to assemble had stupidly use the original bolts  so they had popped hadn't they! Use the right bolts and now nice and tight.
