Nothing...but the work on the MGB goes on. Minis will be safe insde when the roadster is gone!

Image

Power train is out as are brake and fuel lines, battery cable, heater and radio. Things look good in engine compartment...only one bit of rust at top of inner wheel well.

Front crossmember has been prepped and painted with reassembly using new fastners. New Buick engine mounts have been ordered and oil pump kit. Have Carter AFB 400 CFM rebuild kit in hand.

V6 will get stripped down and refreshed as required. Progress.

Sandblasted the nooks & crannies of the front end of the Estate. Filthy work but quite satisfying as it gets into corners nicely and I was due a shower...

Correct GT it is a spray booth. Has been pulled apart for my daughters 18th and is in the process of being resealed. The end wall you can see in the photo below is the intake filter wall. The floor is plastic sheeting that runs up the walls and keeps the whole lot sealed. The other end has 2400cfm of exhaust fans to keep the correct air velocity for spraying. It all goes through multiple fiberglass exhaust filters and water traps to contain the overspray. Normally when it is set up it looks like this:

I had just started to paint a fellow members mini in GN25 BRG colour before having to pull it apart for the party. Still got the doors, bonnet and boot done just before Christmas:

Nice shed and set up, what is the other Mini, its not listed in your sig, has a half and half front panel I see!

No not mine Graham. Owner has done most of the body work and I am putting on the colour. Was supposed to be a 67 Deluxe but is has a weird front apron and has rubber suspension. Only arrived on the weekend so haven't done anything to it yet - but the body is nice and straight, new door skins, no rust, roof has been replaced. Car should be done in a month or so (might just miss out on making the 50th bash). The Doc Moke is eagerly awaiting its turn for a refurb 8)

TV is 50" HD plasma
oh . . . and if you look closely you still see the mirror ball left over from the party!

That green is a pretty colour Dave, it reminds me of my dear departed 850/1220/1275 which I did in Castrol Green enamel back in 1968.
The bloke I sold it to, totalled it in 3 weeks...

I like the colour. GN29 was the later variant and has something like three times the amount of black tinter in it. Can't wait to see what the body turns out like.

Put the door back on the mini after getting new bushes put into the hinges. Door works much better now without drooping :)

Dave K, I have to say that I am a little disappointed that you have been hiding your Red Mini from us for all this time. If memory serves, you've had it on the road for about a year or so now and done about 2000 klicks.

It really is very very nice. a fine example. You are to be conratulated on that! Sorry, I don't agree on the chequer plate over the back of the speedo though, I feel it would look out of place. Maybe some polished Stainless or a chromed plate perhaps? It's yours, you do as you please :D

Good to see that it's still on hydro.

Not much wear on the scouring pad:

Pretty happy with it, but the further down a job I get, the bigger the rework if I make a mistake. Going well so far though. Painting it in stages isn't ideal, but my garage isn't big enough and it's a plain colour, not a metallic, so I should be okay.

you've rounded the edges off, you'll find they dont last much longer

That was necessary to get into the roof profiles. The disk was NZ$27 and did a whole roof with acceptable wear to the disk and no clean up. There's sufficient use left in it to do the doors, so I'm happy, plus I have two more just in case.

I do smaller bits with either the sandblaster or paint stripper, but the stripper is so toxic it's a nightmare to use and hideous to cleanup.
