Went to see Dr.Mini and replaced my clutch/flywheel assembly... nice and smooth now... attempted to put new rockers on, came to the realisation that they need to be packed up a little higher... gah!

Still looking for a nice 1 3/4 SU...

That's what you get when putting roller tip rockers on a smallbore head with the long 1275 valves in it. :P

A friend let me use his spray booth for the morning...... Got the doors done. I now realize what a difference having a bluddybig compressor and expensive spray guns can do for the finish, even for a hack like myself. I wish I had taken up his offer and sprayed the whole car in there.

Dare i say it.....He runs a vw resto business and I saw some ultra smick resto's. I also learnt $100k on a kombi makes one very sexy bus.....

Not actually on the Mini, but close enough to give it the heebie jeebies... I finally picked up some oxy/acet bottles yesterday to teach myself to weld. Never knew blowing holes in sheet steel could be so much fun 8)

I even managed to fill some of them back up again using spare coat hanger wire as filler.. really must go and get myself some proper copper-coated filler wires

(I'm learning on a Dillon/Henrob/DHC2000 torch, it's really quite impressive how small a flame you can get on this thing. I'll be welding up Coke cans in no time  )

Not much, but yesterday I assembled my new Panel Stand :D

Just need to clean up the Garage as I've noticed that when I'm not down there every weekend (or for the last 6 months for that matter) the Kids fill it up with CRAP.

Should be back into it soon - cant wait :D :D :D

Went for a drive through galston gorge to Pie in the Sky to `run in' my rebuilt rack. It's still a bit stiff (poly rack bush) but getting better. Steering is much more precise with no slop in the rack bush. :P

Well after 2 yrs I finally got my mini Candy back on the road!!! YAY.

It took 2 goes at installing second hand hydro bags to the drivers side (first time 1 sprung a leak) before it was ready to go. Don't know what I'll do if these hydro bags pack it in as it wasn't easy finding good ones.

But boy! was it a fantastic drive. Doesn't take long to remember what a great car it really is!!

Whoo hoo! Now I'm all fired up to do jobs on it again! 1st in line is the 3 into 1 big bore extractors then to fit my 45 weber and get it tuned!
