Not to mention heart wrenching!

Had a quick look at the ad - $10,000!!!! Is he for real? Surely he's dreaming .... or am I just that far out of touch with mini values these days?

Stupid thing to do IMO, so they are probably young-ish? And you can be sure they've had their eye on it for some time. Bastards.

Agree totally - also tells me that they are most likely local-ish. What I would give to see them - or the car they put the stuff in. Not sure what I'd actually do though. The cops probably wouldn't be that interested unless I could prove it.

To be totally honest - as much as I want to punch fiddle sticks out of them (sorry - still gutted) all I really want is my mini (complete) back. Even if I saw the parts advertised for sale I'd probably just buy them back!! I know that sounds pretty silly but hey - I just want it back the way it was :(

now another beautiful orginal car has been taken away from us - it would have been lovely to see at Mt Cooper this year..

Amen! You hit the nail on the head. This is a loss suffered by all mini people. Not bragging but I reckon this was one of the most original, most loved mini's in Victoria. My plan was to eventually re-spray it and enter it in mini shows. Guess that will never happen.

All these comments about "they must have had their eye on it" makes me wonder a little bit too - My car is completely original and low mileage, just makes you wonder if you've ever parked it somewhere and people have been looking at it thinking "hmm id like his rubber mats" or "hmm that 3 clock speedo looks good"... I've had someone twist my lock with a screwdriver and there seems to be some vandal-type scratches in places on the paint but thankfully no one's got in... yet.

Do whatever you can to protect it mate. And never take for granted what you have. Take it from me. I now have a bare shell sitting in my driveway that looks NOTHING like what it used to. I am absolutely shattered and gutted. I picked the car up from the impound this morning and as I was getting ready to head off I said to my wife - "I feel like I'm going to a funeral or something". And that's how it feels now. A very sad day for me.

No worries benjamin. while my heart did sink when I saw the photo, no offence was taken. Just that I'm so shattered - that's all.

Thanks for your support.

MAte that is AWFUL!! I FULLY APRECIATE AND WORSHIP original clubbies!!
I have been restoring my 77 clubman S Sunshine for 5 years now and have sourced
as many parts as i can to keep it original!!

Can i suggestyou give Mini Clinic at padstow in sydney a call, he has aLOT of
NOS material. (sorry i think i got the last tan vinyl for my car) but you could
do it an original colour interior again (they also had white.cream vinyl with
brown dot pattern cloth.) I wont bore everyone else with the details, but mate
if you want a bit more info from me PM or email or add me to msn. more than
happy to try and help

Makes me cry

Thanks for your thoughts mate. Still very much struggling to come to terms with this. Constantly asking myself how the fck this could happen. oh well.

What's NOS material? I would be after an all brown vinyl with the brown dotted pattern again - no tears if possible. I think if I decide to take this re-store on I will be very fussy about replacing exactly what was on it.

Funny thing - I owned a "Yellow Devil" 78 Sunshine before this one! Great fun little car with the sunshine roof. Loved it in the summer - not so good in winter with the leaks. Spewing I had to sell that one but thought I had a life long replacement with the brown baby. I guess thieving scum put a stop on that. Is that yours in the photo?

Will be in touch for sure about bits in the future.

Thanks again for the thoughts and advice.

thanks makka - hey did you get my two pm's?

I've now sent 2 to you and 1 to someone else and had no response, so I just want to make sure I'm not doing something wrong.

cheers.

I SERIOUSLY suggest you take it to Mt. Cooper...AS IS!

Trailer it up. Take "before" pics with you. Have them on display plus your (or the Police) contact number. Someone there WILL know something. As hard as it is to believe there are some shonky pricks involved with minis.

It will get a LOT of attention for you and help your cause. It might even help spring your theives......
