I have a similar template, bought a bezel and traced around the perimeter on to a piece of cardboard and used the pins to punch holes in to the cardboard, scanned it to a pdf and imported in to CAD, scaled and inserted a ellipse around the perimeter… printed 1:1, I know there’s lots of room for error, but it’s surprisingly accurate .. also happy to share the PDF if anyone needs it

Sorry to hear the badge broke, the badge is die cast which is Cold short. heat the badge in hot water before fitting this will allow the badge to bend slightly without breaking. I used to do this all the time with Rolls R badges. Hot short eg Brass breaks or cracks when heated. I am surprised no one mentioned this fact. The badge must be put on evenly using your hand or a small hammer and a small block of wood.

Eight fifty thanks for the information, as you are aware there is zinc and aluminum die cast .Very few people would repair this material .I have repaired many die cast car grilles and head light surrounds and if they are bent we always heated the material this made it return to the correct shape without cracking or breaking the material .Ask an old blacksmith if there are any left he would confirm this. Text books do not tell you how to repair die cast this has been done over many years using trial and error. Obviously you have used this heating method and it did not work for you ,text book repairers do not go far in the REPAIR industry. Anyhow thanks for your input. If Larry had warmed the metal it may not have broken.

You got it Brad. I've asked Doug to delete my account. I've got better things to do than listen to ignorant comment.

I am very sorry to see Ausmini lose this input from someone who worked at BMC/Leyland and who could offer technical information that help us all in many ways.

It is sad when sarcasm and cheap, petty personal remarks replace a respectful discussion of different opinions.

And spare a thought for moderators and others connected with Ausmini administration who must wonder why they continue to devote time and effort to an unpaid job that can be spoilt by these petty outbursts.

Just received some New Old Stock GFK7514 Badge Fixes from a colleague who worked at Zetland. Apparently he "borrowed" some but inadvertently forgot to return them.

It is as Tony Cripps engineering drawing posted in this thread (before being removed) shows with a ridge inside part way down the shaft. I wonder if the repro version available now has this ridge inside or not?

I posted a photo of my New Old Stock GFK7514 Badge Fixes on page 2 of this thread.
Of course they are identical to those Doug has acquired.
