Hi,
Let the car warm right up today, and checked the radiator ther was not visible air bubbles.
However I did do another compression test on the motor and found No.2 cylinder had 150 were all the other cylinders had 165 as stated yesterday. I rechecked this to make sure there was no mistake.
There is a light rattle/tick around rocker area.
Thanks

15% is a little much of one cylinder..but not great diifeance
is this a 1100 or a 1275 and which cyclinder did you find the less number?

Dunno where Gafmo went to school but 150 is less than 10% variation on readings which while not good is within what is considered the normal variation, try doing a wet test on the cylinder, take a reading then squirt some oil down the plug hole and take a reading, if the reading goes up a lot its a ring problem if it stays pretty much the same its a head valve problem, do it on all cylinders to check the condition, start with simple things first, check valve clearances and if they are all right and it then and only then try a leak down test

Hi,
In conclusion to my ongoing tuning saga,
I got my vehicle back today from an experienced mini tuner ( not the Dyno Mob),
he readjusted 4 incorrect valves, reset the timing, adjusted the point gap, adjusted carbies and retensioned the cylinder head and you would not know it was the same vehicle.
I made the mistake of taking the vehicle to somewhere that had all the modern technology but did not care with the tuning of anmini. Should have taken it to the old mini mechanic first.
Thanks

Well done

I was just reading through and was about to suggest what the old fellow has done. It was starting to sound like tappets and retarded motor.

Reset tappet clearence and advance the distributer. You gotta love old school, do it by ear.
