I did vehicle accident rescue for 18 years in Murray Bridge SA.
I can count on some of the stretches of road 12 deaths that I attanded. (Murray Bridge to Meningie)

Worst jobs:
2 trucks head on- both caught fire - 4 people burnt to death.
Car V Truck (sucide by the car driver) literally blew the guy apart.
Car slid in to tree sidways, wrapping it around the driver - not far from the girls home, She died after we were working on her for 10 minutes - then all the family arrived. I hate it when the family arrives at the scene of a accident.
Also attended boat accidents and speed sking accidents

A few of the bizzar jobs:
Bloke was killed in an explosion in a underground tank - he was using it to grow weed. We had to dig him out (wiht the family watching / waiting.
A old bloke tied a brick around his neck and went swimming in the family rain water tank, lucky he was found within a few hours - the family was inside the houde making cup of tea as we were cutting a hole in the tank (a huge one, gal steel type) to get him out.

I can honestly tell you - speed DOES NOT KILL. It is the sudden stop that will get you every time.

Spare a thought for the thousands of volunteers that give up every long weekend / holidays, to say home to cut the idiots out of wrecked cars.

Some of this crap does stay with you for the rest of your life.
