Dennis, glad to see that you are back. It takes strong character to face up to the witch hunt that has developed in this thread.

My repeated posts about crushing the bootlid and puting it on youtube were not intended to destroy a valuable Aussie bootlid but were really intended to prod you into coming back and claiming your lid.

There are a lot of people on this forum from Sydney and seeing how all this started with the intention of saving the bootlid from the wreckers returning it to you maybe there is a chance (slim) that the Mini community could organize getting the lid to you.

How about it?

Last update on this topic, I received the money Friday, and extra above my costs... beer money, and it is appreciated, the whole thing to me was not the money, I don't need the money, but it is principle, I had to think pretty hard about whether to go public, I am glad I did, and I hope 1990 has learnt a few things about doing the right thing... I think he has learnt a lot, tough at tiimes, but thats life I guess.
So to all of you who have contributed, thank you, and now lets give this young man a break and hope he is not lost to minis, he has shown great judgement to have a mini in the first place. I am sure we have all made bad calls at some stage, I know I have...
Thats about all I have to say on this subject... crap I sound like Forrest Gump now.... thanks all and make sure you follow the thread on the mini for Targa NZ 2009... in the engine conversion area... not much news right now but big progess in a month or so!!

i tell ya what dennis. i tell ya what we do. how about your organise a bbq at your place in the next three weeks and we will cruise to your house with the bootlid to drop it off and get a feed as payment? as for paying mike if he comes with us you can pay him on the day or pay someone that will see him soon.

I have learned my lesson, next time someone goes out of their way to help me, i should help them by being more cooperative and punctual. BBQ at my place, jee I wish i could but understandably thats a little hard. Although i can make a comprimise, when I get another mini, i will make it my personal duty to host a mini-drive and BBQ to Palm Beach (Northern most point in Sydney).

As for picking up the bootlid, I have organised a few times and will be in touch with Mike.
