Yes Simon, it has been a couple of years since it was last at Winton, I think it was fitted with a 1098 as the UK racers were. It was never discraced either, kept up with others in the class, maybe not Henry though. Maybe it will apprear this year.

Here is one at Myniong Sprints in 2006 near Bacchus Marsh in central Victoria, run by the Vintage Sports Car Club , I think it's a different car though.... I thought I'd have a photo from Winton.

holy sh!tballs - OHV conversion - I've heard such a thing existed, but never seen one, now I know why, only 7 produced! lovely car, but morris minor buyers are all tightarses (and I'm allowed to say that - 20 years living with one)

Steady on !!
I've seen the conversion in books and old advertisments, but that one is here in Australia, and a really nice car too.
I wondered why the exhaust came out the right hand side until I got down to the engine bay

In 1962 I worked with a bloke who raced a MM series Minor, somehow he had managed to graft an A series head onto it.
Aussie ingenuity.

that's a bit of work - tho I guess the cam is on the right side of the block...

these days it'd be a BMW twin cam head going on

Minor owners have a lot in common with Mini owners.

There weren't 7 produced. Word is (from reasonably reliable sources) that Alf Mazengarb (yes, he who designed it) produced 6 heads. He then sold the company to another bloke, who made another 6 heads. There may only be three on the road currently, but there is another one being prepped to go back onto a 918 engine. :o The bloke doing it's a member of the NSW club. :P But I reckon he's not one of the people that Matt was unfortunate enough to get no polite conversation from. And he's not that old... A touch older than Hagar. :)

There's an overhead valve conversion on the road on club plates in Maclean , I also have doubts about the 7 or so heads made , I'm sure the owner told me there were more than that made .

don't know about grafting a A series into one, but I did end up with a 289 ford V8 in one[ the pic on tthe left] Ran in sports closed late 60's, but there was "some bloke" in a blue Austin A 30 who would drive around you!!!!!

I have seen a Morrie or 2 years ago with Simca Vedette (flathead V8, nee Ford) power.
I seem to recall the main hassle with fitment was the Morrie steering rack location.
