Not sure if the rod holders are illegal in all states, but it used to be that nothing can protrude 40mm over the front of the bullbar....but I am sure Qld, NSW, and WA have them illegal to be even mounted on vehicles now

As for the headlight peaks, they were an accessory available years ago, and they were popular on enough vehicles (not just mini's) to have the nickname of kidney cutters...the long ones look silly but there are small ones that only stick out about 30 to 40 mm and look quite nice

Rod holders are legal as long as they are in use, ie with rods on them and they must not inhibit the drivers vision.

The NSW vehicle standards ca be found here > http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/ ... index.html , basically nothing is allowed to be added in front of the bull bar or bumper and nothing sharp can protrude from the front of the vehicle .

Nothing - if you're driving a Camry, recent Volvo or other similar car of no character and taste! :P They're just a bit naff.

Last thing I saw about Rod Holders on a 4WD forum was that they had to be behind the front of the bull bar - they weren't to protude past the top tube. So the older style are - to my understanding - now illegal, but you can still have them if they're set back from the bar.

At least they still have a purpose.
