Do we have a winner????

Yes we have a winner. :D :D :D :D

I seem to remember reading somewhere that this GT (modelling the optional sunroof) was a very early one and it seems they didn't bother with the flares.

Did the very early clubman GT's miss out? Or perhaps they did'nt have them sorted out when the publicity shots were taken.

Or were early cars actually fitted with roundy flares.

Hiya,

My 7/71 GT has the metal supports for flares - and it is within the 100 cars.

Will check the motoring press tonight (I have most GT articles from the time) and see what those pics show.

cheers! jon

I'm sure the GT in the pic (body number 001) has flares. I think that they're hard to see on the white car.

My GT is body number 002 off the production line. It definitely has flares fitted.
:D

I think you are right, when you look at the pic real hard a couple of lines where flare meets body can be seen.

Cheers
Steve

This is actually the first GT built! It was painted Country Cream and was purchased by the company that made the sunroof to demo the option - I am not sure if it still exists? Anton would know.

Yeah look at the bottom corner of the front apron panel where the flare ends.

Cheers mate, na, was a serious question, have been out of the mini scene for a while & forgot, but now that you mention it (& now that I think about it) I remember that, so excuse my previous comment! :-(

Yeah, your right. Needed to squint :D

So does Car 002 have Round nose flares (as discussed above), and does anyone know which car the blue one is, surely it would have to be early to be in publicity shots.
