I've thought of exactly this before - only problem is it's open to abuse. If you didn't like someone, regardless of what it was for, how easy would it be to get three mates to ring up and dob them in.

What is needed is a different approach to policing where the police are actually VISIBLY driving around booking people for doing stupid dangerous things. Not hiding in bushes with hairdryers!!

The other morning on a VERY early run to the airport on a Saturday (coming back at about 6am) I saw what I think SHOULD be happening a lot more. You've all heard of Random breath testing, well this wasn't random - it was like a complete sweep. It was the biggest police operation I've seen for ages - about 15 cars and probably 30 or more coppers. They were stopping and checking THE WHOLE FREEWAY! I was in and out in under 5 minutes - a small price to pay for getting DUI low lifes off the road. And judging by the number of parked and locked cars, they had a fair strike rate! I'd be so much happier seeing this sort of presence from our friends in blue more often, but even happier seeing them just pulling over and booking dickheads!!

"How are you today?"
"Not too bad officer, is there a problem?"
"It appears you were being a dickhead back there"
"Oh, really, thought I was only being a idiot"
"No. That's be an on the spot fine"
"Great"
"Have a nice day, dickhead"

Well I just wanted to share quickly what happened the other night when I was driving Lillee. This is the 3rd incident involving a hoon, police and Lillee.

I was driving up Parra road from the BP at Five Dock and I know that cops are EVERYWHERE on parra road on weeknights (dunno why but they are there more so than on weekend :? ).

There was this P plater in a civic tailgating me from the set of lights after BP all the way to strathfield. I could see him dodging in and out of lanes trying to get beside me or something. Meanwhile I am driving at like 55km and taking it easy  ...

Anyway we get to the lights at concord rd where I turn left and I take the corner at 55km/h (because I can and there were no cars) so he decides to do it at like 70km/h floor his car to try to catch up to me, must have been doing well over 80... Suddenly I see another car come around the corner and red/blue lights start flashing. Last thing I saw was him being pulled over by a copper! SUCKED IN!

1) just because I drive a mini with www.ausmini.com.au on by back windscreen means that I am going to hoon around like you
2) do you think I am impressed by your silliness? even if you were to catch up to me without getting fined etc, do you think I'd wind down my window and give you a wave or something??

Needless to say this is the 3rd incident in like 6 months involving Lillee, hoons and cops!

hi
danidad i am dearfully sorry for your son
and the worst part is that i know people who are big dickheads!
a friend got a soarer and well, drives it like a dick.
in fact, after he got his 19" rims, he put the stds back on, and did burnouts til they wore away...
unfortunately i kno someone else who has done this...not naming names coz i kno hes on ausmini, anyway, after a night of burnouts, the tires were completely and utterly bald, as in chunks of rubber had come off..the next day, off to work and ther mustve been oil or some slippery shite on teh road,. and yup, he slid and woteva, and ran into a hilux. of course a hilux is pretty tuff, so it wasnt hurt (payed the owner some hush money, it was a work vehicle, there was nothing wrong with it but) and the driver was scratched and had glass in him and everywhere, car majorly damaged, .anyway, moral to the story, dont act like a moron, ur only gonna get hurt.
next time i hear anyone in south turra doin burnouts im calling the cops STRAIGHT AWAY AND YOU CAN LOSE UR LICENCE!
luv kaz
PS im glad to say i drive like a little old lady. which is why in cruzes i get lost
wen i turn 20 and my bro is 16 i hav to teach him how to drive, he has an fj40, so mum wont teach him
any1 got tips?
yeh i agree with whoever said, l-platers sholud learn in shitters...
my other bro, had a rolla, wrote it off - was only doin "40ks" into a gutter
i hate to say he has 'upgraded' to a commy, i wonder how long the car will stay straight? :? i hope he lives til a ripe old age..
and yeh agreein with whoever said that your brain doesnt mature fully til ur at least 25 or so.
i kno coz i had ADD and took meds to improve brain concentration (ADD is basically wen u hav not enuff of some hormone..) anyway, yay im off them now coz my brain has matured (enuff anyway) so i can say im muture now .. but still drivin like a little old lady
plus i get to drive the camry home 2day!

This happens all the time down here in Hobart where the widest highway is 2 lanes!! They close off the road and pull up everyone for a random breath test. They only need about 3-4 cops/cars to do so, so they can set up 2 or 3 of the same thing on days where there are likely to be DRUNKEN D***HEADS on the road. Normally catch quite a few people but unfortunately the D***HEADS don't seem to learn...

My wife got hit by a drunken driver whilst crossing the road a few years back - she was ok, but it burnt me up when the guy just got off with a 2 month suspended sentence, even though he was a repeat offender and was driving without a licence.

I'd like to think it was a problem that was starting to go away but it seems people just don't learn - I swear it happens so much more than we realise.

I did mention that I USED to do some stupid things when I was younger, but never that stupid. I still think that drink driving is the single worst thing to do on the road. It made me soooooooo mad a few years ago when my fine for one single speeding offence was nearly three times that of a guy who I knew that was done drink driving, while his licence was suspended for drink driving. You tell me - what's more dangerous speeding on a deserted straight piece of the F3 freeway or being pissed at the wheel.

SHAME SHAME SHAME!!!!!   :x    :x :x

Yeah I was absolutely gutted when he got a suspended sentence - the ning nong should have been put away for a few months...

One of those times when I was so angry I almost did something stupid... Was tempted to go and absolutely trash his car so he could never drive the thing again... Refrained from doing so though - didn't want to lower myself to that level

i think by the time that the hoons are out there doing stupid stuff its too late, you gotta fix the cause not the symptom
lets have some agressive driver training

I am of the opinion that driver training will not do a thing, let me explain why. Getting a car and a license is a new toy. When people get new toys they like to use them and cars are no exception. Any new toy ie a computer for instance invokes excitement and we use it to its utmost ability to give us sattisfaction and excitement. A car is no different to the computer, new drivers get in them and use them to create excitement because they have never driven before and if so never at speed. Cure this "new" syndrome and the problems will be lessened, never eliminated, but certainly curtailed.
I write the above as someone whose son has raced karts since 9 years old. He has his permit now and is actually not to concerned if he drives a car or not. He chastises anyone who he sits beside if they do the wrong thing like 1 kph over the speed limit and has been in enough accidents of his and other peoples making on the track to not want to be in one on the road and he makes this quite clear.
Case two is a similar story. a kart racer who did not bother to get his license until he was forced to by circumstance of no public transport to his new work place. Both these people had been there done that, so to speak. I am not saying it is a cure all but it certainly helps and gives a person a grounding in vehicle control and what an accident is like at speed.
Lets get the kids into junior motor sport of any description be it bikes or karts etc and let the excitement factor happen under controlled circumstances. Mind you there are always going to be those that are just beyond any help when they get behind the wheel of a car.
By giving young people driver training when they are about to drive or have driven undoubtably has an effect but can be detrimental also. It shows them what a car can do so they try it on the street as they find it exciting to be "out of shape" in a car. If the facilites were readily available for them to drive in off the street and have a session of this type of driving then they would not do it on the street, or certainly to a lesser extent.
Education of the above nature has to start early. Governments will continue to say we must educate young people, but at 17 years old it is too late IMO.

I personally do not like it when people do 5km's under the limit..just really annoys me, i'm quite happy if they're doing the limit ...We have mentioned speeding but no one has brought in the effect of people holding up the traffic, people doing 70 on the freeway should get booked, cause one lane gets backed up when most people are doing 110-120, then alot get pissed and people jump in front and speed off and just generally creates bad behaviour on the road..

I'm all for cheap Junior motorsport..

Also i'd like to add, what idiot thought of increasing the demerit point penatly for doing up to 15km/h over the limit!? it's now 3 points..ok fair enough..but it's STILL 3 points for doing between 15 and 30....If your going to get booked for doing 5km over, you might as well do 30..I know they dropped the fine, but it's still stupid..

I agree with MrBob, get the idiots off the road, those who can't drive, can't reverse park..look like an idiot driving slow and have no idea of the space around your car, no more licence..people who swing out to take a corner like a semi..in a barina....retards :)

About 8 or 9 years ago a friend of mine was hit by a car along the wynnum esplanade as he crossed the road the guy that hit him didn't even see him till the last minute because he was too busy trying to race another car. He was hit and thrown about 25 metres in front of about
20-30 people sg being one of them probably one of those things that will alway stick
in his mind.He was 17 just got his license,a fulltime job and got his car on the road, he had everything going for him. Till that loser hit him! He was reveived on the scene by an onlooker but he died later that week in hospital.

The guy that hit him copped the full brunt of the law, he got a couple of sore knuckles
and lost his licence for a short period of time.

NOW THATS JUSTICE!!!
