I was planning on going to magnetic island late next month/early Jan on a road trip me and my hubby are going on and was hoping to hire a moke.

It was something I'd always wanted to do, looks like I was abit too late!! :(

Does anyone know if you can take your own car over by ferry?

If I had the spare cash, I would love to add a moke to the collection 8)

If I remember correctly, prepare to leave arm and leg at the ferry office to pay for it.

Last I heard there were a lot more than 23 Mokes on the Island. I wonder if they are just clearing out the older ones and keeping the later ones.

It might be worth still giving them a call Gemma.

If they still have Mokes to hire, you might want to do a story for TME on your road trip to Maggie Island.

Cheers,
Watto.

anyone know what they went for, the 450 filing fee kept me from bidding, and being at the other end of the country.

From the "Donkey Telegraph" - Moke Forum Newsletter:

Quote:
Magnetic Island Mokes for Sale
The famous, well sort of, hire mokes of Magnetic Island in north Queensland are coming up for auction next week, nearly 30 or so of them are up for Auction in Townsville this time round.

The auction is scheduled for this coming Tuesday and many people who keep up with goings on The Moke Forum are aware of the details but perhaps if you are not you might like to take a look.

Six Damaged Mokes

23 Complete Mokes

I know of three or four different groups or individuals making their way up to Townsville for the big event and hopefully pick up a bargain or two. I am showing restraint by not attending myself.

Good luck to those bidding.

Theres some info in the Moke forum.... (about 3/4 down the page)

but all a bit confused - but sounds like they were going at premium prices...

 Passed in at $6000 - $6500!

I think that has just raised Moke prices nationally!!! :D

Excellent!

I was worried that a flood of cheap mokes would make Shannons change my agreed value on my car.
