We have ours on a 7inch manifold through the firewall

Makes good top end, but drives very well. Pulls clean from 2500 - 7500.
Once tuned they are fine. Finding parts for them, and finding someone that actually 'knows' what they are doing is a little hard.

As for the look, what looks tougher than a carb sitting though the firewall ?

Me too! Teflon sounds like the right stuff for the job.

Another not unimportant thing to look at is the availability of good manifolds! The best carb is worth nothing if it has to breath through a crap manifold... IMHO there's a lot more good manifolds available for Webers than for (twin-) SUs.
