Finaly found the numbers, we were curious if it was a Mini K or Deluxe, or Morris 1100........... Here they are. YG2S43906 Scott assures me its a Mini K. I am not sure it isn't..

Mini K? My Leyland Australia Mini-K parts book says YAG2S4, but in 1969 they dropped the 2nd digit.
so K is YG2S4.
Definitely not a 998 `Matic (which are YA2S5)

nah, mini K's aren't YG2S4... YG2S4 is something else altogether - look at the photos, you might notice something about the grille brace ;)

I believe genuine replacement panels were all like that...

But isn't YG2S4 a mk2 S?

Doc - your Mini K parts book (PUB1038) says YMG2S4 for Morris Mini K and YAG2S4 for Austin Mini K (did they actually make any of those? NZ maybe?).
My understanding is that the second digit was only dropped from the MK II S - YKG2S4 becoming YG2S4.

Second digit was dropped from my `70 `Matic, it is YA2S5 13**
the same prefix was on my 1969 matic, since sold.
All the compliance plates I've seen on 70-71 roundys had the 2nd digit dropped.

My K book is PUB 1038 (final), whatever that means...

Inside cover actually says:

Morris Mini K RHD [vacant space]
Morris " " " LHD YMG2S4-L
Austin " " " RHD YAG2S4
Austin " " " LHD YAG2S4-L

Engine prefix [common] is 10YJ/U/H

So says the book, but Leyland have been wrong before. Look at the errors in their `black book' workshop manual.

Yes they did sell Austin Ks, they went from here to to UnZud.

[edit] Vic Mini club reckons a K is YG2S1, which is why they are supposedly `easy to rebirth' as an S. I reckon this number is right and the PUB 1038 book is wrong.
Mind you there are errors in that listing, MiniMatic Mk2 for instance.
