11 inch single leading shoe

And a push button 3 speed Torqueflite auto..
I used to stand above the dipper at Bathurst, watching the Phoenix pilot twirling the wheel to & for while stabbing at the `2' button on the dashboard..

No, the wheels broke before the brakes got hot.

Back onto the thread topic, you can all stop worrying becasue on Monday the 13th of June, Vendetta will have 8.4" discs on the front, schmicko rear drums, and beautiful steering. Made the booking today. So y'all can shut up now  :D

That was the rear discs.
The Camaro came with rear discs but CAMS said that the base model came with rear drums so that was what he has to run. (The base model Commodore had drums........ 8) )

The year that he rolled the car was the first year that the car had rear discs. He was in with a chance that year.

in my experience with drums, if you use them sparingly they're quite effective, and give good feel. even when chasing a 1293 with discs.

also if you use them frequently especially from high speed they turn to jello.

give me 7" cooper brakes anyday

Yep...fairly true words for standard drums....assuming there is no faults with the braking system....

what we were talking about tho....is trying to stop maybe one and half tons of high speed Camaro at the bottom of Conrod Straight consistently every two and half minutes....not easy :D

ok heres my bit
if you modify an engine by rebore, opening out inlets, grinding at the chamber, then plaining the head, grinding an offset journal on a crank etc etc you are lightening the vehicle
science says that the force required to stop a moving object is directly linked to its weight (less weight, less stopping power required) therefor a drum system would quite likely be more eficient on a modified motor than a standard one...
yes its the potential to go faster and that facts effect on the driver that causes the need for discs.
beeing an old sod i recall driving all sorts of tanks on drums.. stopping my beloved 1960 dodge Pioneer meant standing up on the brake pedal nearly pulling the steering wheel off.... them old beasts were HEAVY...
Still it your doing up a car why not make it go, and stop well
safety is more important that performance.. dead people suck at driving
