Thanks for all the kind words and suggestions people.
I don't know what I'll do yet, or when it will happen, but rest assured:

MINI-98 WILL BE BACK.

well first off, sorry mate. hope to see you back on the road soon! and glad you're ok.

second, i think my mini has had a similar yet much milder incident, as the passenger side floor is all wrinkled up, the door is a slightly different colour and i keep finding broken glass in it... this was before i bought it so all speculation.

third, i ahve slid on a road in the wet, going around a very easy corner, and i could feel a bit of slip with good tyres, a very wet road and 3 other passengers. although i didnt have to do anything to righ itslef, i was about to then it was fine. and i wasnt driving fast either!

finallly, instead of reshelling (im assuming this is brand new shell and you will ahve to do all the wiring, suspension, painting and trimming???) why not get your hands on another rolling shell and drop you motor into it, and register the details with vicroads so it's legal? although i think you will need an engineers certificate to do this??? try to get the same model if you can, maybe this will make it easyer for you?

good luck mate

that's a sad sad thing Harley, I sympathise...

I reshelled my cooper s into my van after I crashed it last year - 6 weeks from the official word from the insurance company that the write-off was mine, to registering the van... buy a straight solid shell, transfer everything across.... ask around the VMCI - someone may have something they've been saving and will part with it...

Sorry to hear mate....but look at it this way: Cars can be replaced....people can't.

Accidents happen to the best and most experienced of us. Happy to hear that you are a responsible mini driver unlike some who's name will not need to be mentioned.
