Gafmo, thanks mate, I have no doubt I'll need some serious encouragement throughout the year. I am optimistically giving myself 12 months for the resto....we'll see how we go. Pics to be posted on gallery as soon as I get my POS digi camera up and running.

9YaTaH, no PM seen yet mate, however, I am the computer reject from hell (probably my bad). Have just landed in Canberra from TVL and am keen to check the ACT Mini Club out. Details pls. :D

Cheers,

AUGO

Hi,

I'm (another) Matt.

The Monster Truck diaries live here:

http://www.slabathon.com/~matt/monster_truck/ (beware dialup using Telstra victims)

She has some cancer in the floor. But I own a MIG and I'm not afraid to use it.

I'm slowly buying Whitestriped63's car piece by piece. :D
Seriously, just the motor and discs so far, doors soon.

You Sydney guys seem pretty tight. I'm hoping to find some mini souls up here on the gold coast.

Ideally I'd like to find someone who is willing to give me some pointers on body prep and which bits are easily replaced.

Who ever did a job on it last, bodged it I feel. Structural & load bearing bog. Great idea. For example there was a mile of bog under the door hinges. Nearly every piece of bog I have looked at has rust under it. The paint is thin and cracking.

So I want to do it right this time. But alas, I have no body experience, and all my panel beater mates are far away. Sure, I could take it to a shop and have it done. But if you want a job done properly... and besides I want to learn how to do it... I'm sure most of you will understand.

As for painting, I'm not decided on. It's probably worth getting a pro to do?
Can anyone recommend a shop on the gold coast?

Lastly, to the locals, is there much of a mini scene around the gold coast (Brisbane included) ?
I'm not the type interested in old-boys clubs, with fees & beuorcracy, just freindly folk, willing to get togther for a beer and show off their toys.

Hey Matt

I'm up in Brisbane, and a fair bit of a n00b when it comes to mechanicals and body work. would be very happy to get together at some stage and learn along side ya! 2005 is my year of trying to do more stuff with my car, rather than hand over hard earned to someone else, and not be overly happy with the results.

hi all the people in the south east corner of the sunny state.. been meaning to attempt to catch up with a few more of you. just found your little site zizzle, nice little van, initially i thought it might have been a mini which is in helensvale (must drop in on them sometime too LOL)... there are enough mini freaks up and around here to bounce ideas off and find help when you need it. we are still collecting parts for our 3 minis and making progress on danielles cooper, which is supposed to be the first one completed.
also have a clubby and a deluxe.

You Queensland guys should have a look at:
http://www.miniownersclub.com/
if you haven't already. It seems a pretty popular club and centered around south east queensland (I haven't looked beyond thier webpage though)
