Cleaned and dregreased most under car components, ready to blast tomorrow and then paint!

Couldn't work out a way to get the hub nut off the front's though.. Only ever done it on a car.
Ideas anyone?

Adam, I have DrMini hub service tool #1.. you can borrow if you want or bring the hubs & shafts over here is quicker.

Is it a big bit of flat bar that goes over the wheel studs and you hook it into a vice?

Because this was my planned approach.
Thanks for the offer Kev, might take you up on it in coming weeks, we'll see

It's a big thick square steel plate that bolts over the studs, has a big hole in the middle. And a handle welded to it, which either goes in the vice or sits on a brick if used on the car.

Buffing the roof to remove the swirl marks. Very slow and tedious but it is looking good :)

Put the new door latches on and the doors now shut, lock and opens a treat.

Then rummaged through the garrage for ages trying to find the second bracket that holds the drivers seat in, but couldnt find it.......

Now have to source one, might try wreckers and/or couple local mini mechanics, worst case have to order a spanker from karcraft, cost shouldnt be much but freight tips it over when only ordering a single bit...

Replaced the old broken fusebox with a new blade one under the dash and removed the back seat to get it to sit right.

Blasted my 1100 and got the crank out, have one seized piston stuck so I'll leave it there for the machine shop to remove for me.
Is there any difference between the 998 block and 1100 block?

Nope.

As the phrase goes:
Doesn't matter if you stuff an 1100 block, every 998 motor has a spare one.

Engine number.
I'd use the existing 998 one, then you won't have to change engine number? at Vicroads.

It has to be fully reregistered anyway so the engine number isnt a concern. I have the original engine sitting in my shed as well only a 998 but i might use that for originality sake.

Drove the Moke to work today, it was a quick run in but a stop/start run home in the dark. For the first time in over 13 years the Moke actually ran well all the way. With the water heated inlet, correctly gapped primary year and decent alternator she idled nicely on choke, when cool, when hot, with the headlights on and with the heater fan blowing. I didn't have to blip the throttle, play with the choke or turn off the fan. It was a revelation of trouble-free driving. Did I mention she started first crank? With the stock rack the indicators even self-cancel!!

I have almost a achieved my aim of daily drive ability with the moke.
I just have to replace the A032R tyres to stop it tramlining and it will be the car it always should have been.

Happy days!

M

Got a new earth cable and fitted it, now the back seat fits properly. Also managed to get the bonnet stuck and cannot open it.

Got a soft car cover for the moke as it is now undercover with his own moke house...

Also dropped into GR's to have a chat about engine stuff....
