statistics show that more accidents happen within X km from home.. or something like that :?

This can be explained by the fact that most people drive more kms around their home than anywhere else, and hence you would expect a higher crash rate. For example, I drive to work, and therefore 5 days a week I usually don't venture any further than 10kms from home.
Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics. :)

Ummmm no, it is close to home either way....

lets say the first/last mile ( )....it was proven that people tend to drop their guard slightly when they can sense their driveways...not as alert...more prone to accidents.

de other fellas picture that he couldn't display???? (ya left one [img] off the end)

Safety features aren't all they are cracked up to be anyway,
i've heard of a guy who was driving a car with airbags, one hand on the top of the steering wheel in the typical boy-racer pose. He had a small front on impact which set the airbag off, causing his hand to fly up and hit his head, killing him :-(.

There are two measures for safety in a car, active safety and passive safety. Unfortunately there are only regulations on passive safety, meaning that cars are now designed to be safe in an accident, but you are much more likely to be in an accident because you cant avoid one. It also means cars now come out with A frames wider than my head, packed with airbags, but so massive they create blind spots larger than a small car, giving no hope to a cyclist, motorcyclist, pedestrian, or even a mini. If everyone drove mini's i doubt there would be half as many accidents on the road...

well i agree with that considering that in the 60's and 70's there were hardly any crashes compared to now, i know there werent as many cars but i think the blind spots etc are still a problem

I think it has to do with the people today, their lifestyles and actions/reactions.

And their cars.
Eg. In the 70's most young drivers didn't have 150 KW commodores.

Your Spewing...
I have to crash test a car to prove my intrusuion bars work. Even though these cars have passed many countries standards and are acceptable everywhere but here.

 There goes a EFi Rover... Bye Bye...

Anyways. If ya crash, its gonna usually hurt. If you're paranoid about it, go sit at home. But not infront of the fire, coz you'll get burnt. Oh, and don't watch TV, it'll make your eyes go square.

Puh-lease. Crashes happen all the time. Eventually, some moron, probably drunk in a Commy or a Falcon, will clean you up. There is nothing you can do about it.

Face it. Life's a bitch. There's always someone out there waiting to ruin your day. Hopefully it won't be the day you're driving your Mini. Hell, we don't wanna lose another mini for no good reason. People are expendable  Cars, however, are expensive to replace.

If you don't wanna have a crash in a mini, its easy. Dont drive it.
