Hey this thread is nearly as long as the "Honda disc brake thread" and both nearly as pointless as each other.

 Was that funny?

Funny? - No

the point is us oldies try to show you younguns the important stuff and you guys just don't listen - so bottom line is that some of you are going to die finding out for yourself

I've waided through too much blood and guts to find it funny

No joke on people dying in car accidents.

Joke is with the Honda brakes. Someone make a kit that includes EVERYTHING ready to go for the claimed "under 500 bux" what u all go on about then i'll consider it.
Oh and screw the legal crap; i'll just sign a disclaimer saying that the seller has no responsibility in any actions of the buyer and the item.

fair enough but these were FOG lights not driving lights & as I got my license some 20 odd years ago in my HG sedan that like the average mini had pretty average lighting to say the least & fog lights were yellow things that the yuppys had on their cars... I think it was uncalled for .... I totall agree about the purple or blue lights they have now as I travel the NSW coast rd at night fortnightly & they are ****ed... but If the laws keep changing to suit the newer cars then people should be notified......not everyone has time to sit at the RTA reading there pamplets ( HOW MANY PEOPLE KNOW THE ROUNDABOUT RULES ) if you can see over em with all there plants & trees blocking the oncoming traffic....they didnt even have em when I got my license & I havent turned 40 yet you gota be fair ................

hate to think what the older generation have to cope with. I spend a lot of time on the road & am aware of other drivers (including truckies) witch havehelped me out when ive needed it .... I just think that either they dont supply cars or whatever with crap that is faulty or f**ked for other drivers ....... but sometimes things are out of peolpe control
or they choose not to know ( I didnt know ) & who would ??? how many people would know it was against the law ....not many im sure ..... i dont know how old you are but if your as old as your pic you should know better than me I guess..... & $25 bucks is a bit steep for a new book every 10 min they change crap, I have a lot of respect for other people on the rd mainly to servive the trips i make & cause of comman deciency but i hope your never coming down the hume behind me ...... & im sorry you had an issue about road worthy at work but there are a lot of worse issues on the road than f**ken fog lights & regulations us (oldies ) arnt aware of. im sure every one has time to read the latest books available ( likley)

Many younger people (like my #1 son in his Munro CV8) know it's illegal to run around with the foggies on, but do it 'coz it looks cool.
His attitude is.. well they've gotta catch me first! Just like his thoughts on speeding..

i once got warned for not having a "soft section" in the middle of my steering wheel. he said that original Minis did. i told him they didn't. we got in an argment, but he let me off without any sort of defect notice.

WD - I understand that some P-platers can be "little sh!theads" a lot of the time and yes i agree that it would be excellent to stop all the fatalities on the roads each year....but in my experience thats not the cops motivation. Both times I've been fined, I've done just as you've said (the whole "yes sir, no sir, two bags full sir" routine) as i figured that being rude and obnoxious wouldn't get me anywhere and both times i got screwed.

The truth is that the more fines etc the cops hand out, the better they look to their superiors...and young people are the easiest targets.....

the whole p platers are hard done by thing is so old...

i was never victimised when i was on my p's...

the p basically stands for poor....

1) Driver is poor: Buys cheap car... Gets defected

2) Drivers skills are poor: Buys hot rod/ricer, crashed and dies...

if i was a cop, i'd keep an eye on p platers (defecting where necessary) because
*sings* "I beleive P-Platers are the future...Teach them well and let them lead the way"

sorry.... channeling whitney for a second there....

i think you guys (cush...WD) are getting me all wrong here

i know that plenty of P-platers deserve what they get....the thing is i believe that they are in the minority and that they make things hard for the majority of us who then get the raw end of the deal because we're all lumped into a single group

Don't sweat it Tommo - your doing ok

I acknowledge there is a perception that the cops pick on the P's for the fun of it. The reality is this is a high risk group and they actively police them. I acknowledge there are some coppers who have bad hair days and do not seam to be reasonable at times. This is just reality as there are the good and bad amoungst all groups.

As to your belief that only a minority of P's deserve what they get - *buzzer* - wrong. The statistics, hospitals, courts and morgues prove you wrong on that one.

All drivers [me included] make mistakes. New drivers make more than most [it is a natual consiquence of learning] The trick is to survive the intiial learning process, and that takes about 5 years or more before you build up that knowledge base of experience.

By taking the time to have this discussion and not just dismiss it as "whatever!" you display signs of being interested in your own survival - There's a good chance you'll make it to pass on these lessons to your own kids. Good luck
