I had a registered rolling clubman shell I gave away in 2002. I think it even still had a battery.

I've lined Brad up with an 850 shell for $100, we'll see if he wants it...

The thing is....these Rover shells are in limited supply here with their internal door hinges....in racing, you have to expect panel damage (sadly).

So maybe a more plentiful body might be a better start :?:

I bet the external hinges are lighter than Rover internal, even before you gut the doors...

Damn , I was just thinking about this on the theory that the Rover bodies would be that bit stronger as being less fatigued (haven't been thrashed for 30 odd years and loosened up) and having burst proof doorlocks ... Didn't think of replacement parts for doors etc ....

Clubmans have burst proof locks  (None that I've owned were burst proof though, they weren't even "remained closed whilst driving" type either).

Daniel

My son had a head-on in his Clubby with a Camry and survived, the `burst-proof' lock would have been OK, but the $^*&% door hinges sheared off.
THEY are cast iron, obviously NOT burstproof...

Door fell onto the road.... :?

hi guys shortys hubby here have been reading thought this post and think that this type off racing could take off but everyone is looking hard at the regualtions i know there are some saftey standards that must be meet but as to car spec i think you guys need to set up a day at the track and work out a cost for the day and start early in the morning like 7am at the track and then sort cars into groups of simller spec and let them run together there for it's fair and even compertion and every one gets a go.

for instance after christmas shortys mini will have 12" wheels, rover disc brakes, aircon(it's a driver preformance mod. keep cool) but it has an 1132cc motor with mild cam and twin 1 1/4" su so if gets along nicely. but none of these are covered in rules and this is a road going daily driver which is what these race should be aimed at.

if not i still have the purple shell from brickworxs down the back but it has no back seat or anywhere to put it as the cage use to be there.

well that my 2.2cents

Yeah, a couple of us have been PM'ing each other so its all good.
I think we will sit down with GR and see what happens.

I also agree with shorty's hubby - lets look at the idea and work on intricacies later.

Peter.

If you get something happening, make sure you keep us informed at The Mini Experience - our details are in the front of the mag - and we will cover the events, just as we cover the MRA events.

Remember too that MRA has a variety of classes, from road reg to full hybrids - and are getting medium-sized grids. Perhaps talk to Brian Waldon about the possability of running as an extra class - 1000/1100 - or two classes, within their championship. This would help them fill grids, put more Minis on the track, give the people who want to spend big bucks the potential of moving up in class and keep the slower/cheaper classes affordable.

Cheers,
Watto.
