thats true about the ship loading but the thing is how do we know the people stealing the cars havent cut a deal with the guys at the dock? plus a mini is that small and they cover them so they are prtected from the salt in the water and air its not hard to pass them off as something else or to sneak them onto a container

More than likely for an Aussie customer.

Didn't anybody read/hear about the brown clubbie that was stolen, and all the top quailty parts moved onto another mini ?

If someone was going to go to all the trouble of stealing a mini to export, why not hit up Japan or the UK where they have newer models and a lot more Minis to choose from ? Plus location wise they are closer to most places.

The cost of exporting a Mini, especially on the dodgy, and then making your money back by selling to the stolen vehicle would be bloody difficult surely ?? Even if it was stripped, theres still a bigger selection from overseas. Exporting From Oz of all places just doesn't make sense unless its an original Cooper, GT or S.

I would normally say yes, yes your right. However this guy is a friend of my mate and his father and they sent me to this guy as they have been going there for years. He was such a good bloke he looked at my car mechcanically and electrically, only charged me $30 as he re-did a couple of wires to fix the problem. In no way has he crossed my mind as a possible thief. I'm be estatic if it turns up but as said i know there's only a 1%- 5% chance if that of seeing her again.

for $920 its fairly expensive but the number of features is fantastic and i think is worth it especially if you spend 10,000 or more on the car

In an instant you can be informed via SMS with easy to read UBD street directory references exactly where your car and loved one is.

Receive SMS notification direct to your mobile phone when your vehicle is:

tampered with or stolen
travelling over a pre-defined speed limit
is in an area that it should not be in
moving out of an area that it should be in
towed away
driver is in duress
You can also set your Carminder up to to notify you when:

your vehicles battery has been disconnected with out your consent or if the vehicles battery is running low.
At any time, for the cost of an SMS you can control from your mobile phone up to three behaiours of your vehicle.
This includes:

locking and unlocking doors
disabling and enabling starter motor

would be quite a surprise for the thief if theyre driving along and the horn starts beeping and the radio comes on :P

Zack,
Spoke to your folks on sunday at the rfds open day. Really lousy situation. Who ever it was would have been watching and waiting for their chance.
You need to think of who you have been in contact with. There has been too many of these occurrences for this not to be someone under our very noses.
Check with the others who have lost their minis in the last 12 mnths or so to see if there is any common contacts.
Hope the insurance comes through quickly and you can get started again.
Who else will I converse with in the middle of the day, your the only person who seems to have as much free time as me.
Cheers
