Yeah I can imagine it's not at Flynn's. It's bound to be tucked away somewhere in the mountains.

On that note however, have people checked Flynn's for rare minis? I know he has a few but last time I was there he wouldn't let me in

In the old days you could roam out the back virtually at will. Then later they would take you for tours if they were not busy. Now the old man has gone, the sons charge you to have a look and restrict what they will show you.

I've seen plenty of Minis there, but nothing rare. Nothing I could ID as a Cooper or similar anyway. 850's, Deluxes, clubbies, vans, some Mokes.

I just had a look using Google Earth but not good enough resolution to identify anything. On a quick count there appears to be a couple of thousand cars there!

In case any one wants to look themselves I searched GE on the listed address (408 Snowy Mountains Hwy, Cooma) but the location is actually to the right of the property displayed.

I put a picture of it up on Perisher's Facebook page and they responded!

They didn't say much but they know of it at least!

Just 'like' Perisher to see it on their wall.

I just have one question about all of this....why a mini??

My guess is that they would choose a small car as it would be easier to keep the cabin warm.

There is no more space efficient small 4 seater than a Mini.

They had four different oversnow vehicles at Wilkes station in 1965 ranging from the Nodwell, which is huge, through the yellow thing I can't identify (maybe a weasel), a Porsche Snow Trac (lower picture) and the Mini Trac.

I guess they wanted different sized vehicles for diferent jobs. They used the big ones for long distance traverses inland, but the small ones were for running around the station. In 1965 they were starting to build Casey station which is a couple of kilometres from Wilkes (which is abandoned now) so they would have needed to be travelling between the two all the time, perhaps they saw the Mini Trac as a commuter vehicle.
