the other thing that is giving me the sh!ts is people saying motorkhanas are the greatest driving challenge ever and that hillclimbs and sprints arent and wont teach you to drive.. really? like neither of them are spectacular but i learnt everything in hillclimbs..

i feel that motorkhanas are not really exploring the true limits of a car (and dont say you do..) and the only thing i could pull from it as a skill builder is getting a good feel for using pedals and the handbrake and linking that all together but i havnt used the handbrake yet when ive been heading down the freeway at 110 so il have to wait for that oppertunity.

but, shock horror, after starting in hillclimbs and building my skills without any help i can now drive cars including feeling the grip limit of a car at speed, heel toe downshifting, decision making (at speed) and avoidence skills (at speed) and it obviously did something right, what it did was give me a controlled environment in which to go and try and learn which has now stopped me from trying to learn on the road and killing someone..

i know im arcing up over nothing but it just annoys me alot when it helped me so much

Meeni, you are going off half cocked again.

If you read what i said about motorkhanas, you will see that I said it is a good place to learn car control in an extremely low risk environment, which can then be applied at higher speeds. Those higher speeds would include hillclimbs, sprints and indeed racing, let alone on the road. I am sure that you did not start running before you crawled or walked, so don't be so dismissive.

Not every young person is as lucky as you to have your parents and their friends involved in motorsport and introduce them to speed events early on or willing/able to fund their child's motorsport. Motorkhanas offer a safe, cheap and easy way to get started and represent a very good option for the general populace whose parents are not involved in motorsport.

It seems that you are getting annoyed with people who simply have another opinion that is different to yours, well welcome to life. Take some time to read and digest what people are saying before you get annoyed just because they don't agree with you.

cheers
michael

There's good points in both directions, but before anyone goes getting their knickers in a knot I'll lock it off.

My two bits: Any motorsport on a weekend is good, it shakes the hoon out of you for the working week ahead. I used to catch myself doing the speed limit for weeks.
