yes tadpole was once known as BORIS
we bought it and the blue panelvan and doris the donor from terry some years back about 2004 the panelvan is called sprog
doris has gone to dog as being beyond salvege as some one loaded her on to a tow truck and pulled the cable tight accross the roof :(
she was a really sad case lots of rust
Sprog had a lot of work done .disk brakes ,full reco 1100 motor ,new seats and new interior
,but rust has reared it ugly self :(
so he is of the road for a while :( when he returns it will be with a new paint job :D

Kermit has done a good job in a short time :)

would be interesting to see or hear of
cars being recognised by previous owners years later

on the inside. on the latch bit. its stamped into the metal. If it has been painted a couple of times it might be hard to see. I only noticed it on mine after i got the wire brush on it.

Thanks Ian I appreciate the compliment. It is nice to hear some history of the cars past owners. I am looking forward to the pics that he might find.

I have had another look and still can't see any numbers on the plate but I might get a wire brush out and give it a crack with that. cheers :)

I found some pics of the car from Hay 1999, not great, but something!

Now I remember Doris the donor too! My wife reminded me that the wooden dash I had in my van (since sold) came from Doris. If I recall correctly Doris was bought for $150 from someone in Ferntree Gully and towed to Croydon behind a XE Falcon wagon on a rope, with no brakes. She made contact with the rear of the Falcon at least once, so they headlights were slightly pushed in on both sides.

The original engine from Sprog the van is the one now in Tadpole (nee Boris). Boris had a smokey 998 on a crunchy remote box when Terry got hold of him. That's why there was a hole for a remote shift in the floor. I also recall someone had done a very dodgy mod on Boris (again before Terry got him) to fit those Cosmic wheels on the back without rubbing the trailing arm::

- Cut the wheel studs off more-or-less flush with the drum face.
- Arc-welded some longer Holden wheel studs to the cast-iron drum.
- Put some huge nuts over the new studs as spacers, then refitted the wheels using Holden wheel nuts.

So basically the screws holding the drum on the hub was all that was preventing the rear drums and wheels from coming off completely. Lethal stuff! We were horrified.

Doris was purchased to provide the donor parts to fix that problem properly, with stepped drums on the rear. She also provided a front screen for Boris and I snaffled the dash, some electrical bits etc off her.

The rear seatbelts in Boris came from my Oh Fudge 76 Mini S which biffed a Torana and lost. :(

Boris's dash and door trims was made out of the wood panelling removed from Terry's front hall when they were renovating and Kim gave Terry a set of Yokie A008's for his birthday.

Funny the little details you remember!

Cheers,

Ah yes i have heard about the engine. It's nice to know some of the history of it. I can't beleive that they did that to the back end to fit some wheels :S. Still has the A008's on and they're still like new! I'm not keeping the wheels that are on it though, I'm not a fan. Look forward to seeing the pics and thanks again greatly appreciated
