Hey guys :)

Im Andy, Im over the ditch in NZ.....Wellington specificly. I have a 93 Gen III MR2 turbo (profile in my signature) and a 96 Toyota Glanza S for the missus, it's currently for sale as she is keen on a J-Top SWB Pajero (suits me...some offroad fun in the weekends ;) )

Im hopefully picking up my 82 Leyland mini next week. Long story short I brought it for $1000, gave it to my lil bro to learn to drive, the other lil bro and his mate BLEW the gearbox, my bro gave it back to me for FREE. My next door neighbor reakoned he could fix it, we sell it and split the profit. He couldn't fix it and gave it to a mecanic to sort. They sorted it and after one month it failed again, gave it back and it's been there for about 4 months since then  they admitted to being supplied and fitting the wrong part and have sorted it. As of wed they reakon it's fised and just needs to be dropped back into the car. Re-built gearbox & new front pipe (whatever that means) Looking foward to picking it up again, not looking foward to handing over $1500 for the total repair :(

Im definitly going to keep it and slowly do it up but what Im gonna do to it I don't know.

Cheers
KiwiMR2

I know its a long way away...but

Iona Motors
217A Aubyn St
06 7585154

has been a Mini specialist for ages (hope he is still in business)

Might just be worthwhile hitching a trailer to the Pajero and wandering up there to get the Mini sorted.

Cheers for the reccomendation, it's basicly finished now though, well the bill total is sorted, the work being done now is at no charge becasue they fitted the wrong part.

The sad thing is the person who has mine now (well for the last 4 months) is supposed to be specialist as well, had been told by quite a few people that had brought mini's down from Auckland to Wellington just for him to work on it. I won't EVER be using them agian, and anyone that ask's I'll be NOT reccomending them.

Cheers

Thanks WhoDat, I would still be driving the van if the kids didn't keep complaining about rolling around in the back.
Steve.

I've been here for a while but never formally introduced myself.

My name is Julie (aka Kyoda - a mixture of Whisky and Soda - get it?), I live in the southern highlands of NSW and have been a Mini fan for over 15 years now. My husband and I own a few Minis in various states of restoration - from our turbo charged Mk II S to our 2 Mokes (1 being left hand drive), 1 average 1972 Clubman (motorkhana beast), 2 Clubman GT's (1 being the oldest surviving GT in Oz - number 4 off the production line) and 1 little Morris Mini 1100 (poverty pack government issue) which is very rusty but we can't bring ourselves to part with it.
I have been a memeber of the MCC NSW for 14+ years and my husband was born into the club (his mother is the current President).
Hope to meet some of the Ausmini crew in the future.

Cheers
Julie..........
