Probably never actually had a license

Reminds me of a something I saw in High School (10 years ago)... A friend was from India, his whole family moved here. His dad wanted an Aussie drivers license, so he went out and got his L's.

Nothing wrong with this, right? WRONG.

His dad drove the volvo around, with L plates on.... but BY HIMSELF. He couldnt speak English. GOD only knows how he learnt to drive in India, and what rules they follow over there.....

THOSE are the drivers that worry me.

As far as freeway racing in Adelaide..... pretty much non-existant. Its probably because our freeways take you AWAY from town, where nobody lives. The main sport practiced on suburban streets here is DRIFTING. Its bigger than drag racing over here.

Theyre not out there hurting anyone or breaking anything either.... they do it in Industrial areas, where there is NO night traffic, no houses, no cafe's. The cops should leave em alone.

Besides being shocking movies besides the few classic cars involved they do encourage crap like this.

I understand where you're coming from and agree to a certain degree...

HOWEVER I'm a soprano/mafia/crime watcher that doesn't mean i'm going to go out and knee cap someone with a baseball bat (yet)! Because I have a brain. These P platers need to stop being sheep. Some girls are just as bad, some of 'em skankin' around these guys cause they drive hotted up cars  Where are these parents? (Some of the parents need a damn good bitch slappin) Surely some of this has to reflect on them? I don't think the media is to blame!

they dont bother them??? Up here, there is a tonne of street racing on saturday nights at 1am (OK Sunday monring) and the cops bust them hard....
They even have had choppers out getting plate numbers so they can be chased down later....
same situ though, the only people that are involved are people that want to be, therefore, why not leave them alone???
maybe some of them die and they'll learn. Why waste the millions the cops do a year trying to shut down sat night races, when it could be invested in a place where people could go to show off their cars without police troubles? I bet that would keep a lot of people off the road that want to show off, and therefore be dumb.

It's not just the morons in their ricers that are the problem... I had a dickhead in an older Grand-Vitara-sized 4WD (can't remember the type) fly past me, spent about 5min driving directly alongside another P-plater 20k's below the limit having a chat, then floored it, DROVE UP A GUTTER on the inside pedestrian island on the road at about 90kph, then ran a red and kept going. Granted this was in Bankstown (all Sydney folk should know what I mean), it's still a pretty moronic thing to be doing...

I admit - I'm still on my green P's - but to be honest, I'm one of the safest P-platers I know. This doesn't mean I drive a car with less power than a lawnmower, carry no other passengers and don't drive between 4pm and 10am every night - but I understand that the only consequence of driving like a dickhead is getting killed. I know my own limits, and I know my car's limits, and I stay well within both.

Plus it helps to have a car that accelerates like a housebrick going uphill... :-)

i have only had my P's for a year, and in the time scince i have got my L's i have been tailgaited by two cops, once when i was on a highway doing the right speed limit and he could have easily passed me, and the other time was when i was on my L's. But its not only cops who abuse P plater, its also dickheads who think they are so much better because they are fully licenced drivers.

Down here in wollongong there is a well known place for ricers to meet, its called south beach. any way, now the cops are trying to move the cars out of there by telling people they have to leave, this is starting to work, but now they just go to north beach. People need a place where they can meet to show off there cars. If police want to fix the problem, they should provide a place which is off public roads where idiots like the ones who meet at south beach can go and do there own things. this way the dicks in their ricers can do there shitty lil burnouts where its not causing trouble. Maybe they could even charge them to use the area ($5 a car), after all its another way to raise revenue, and we all know cops like doing that.

The consensus seems to be to round up the ricer kiddies and put them in a play pen where they can't hurt others. Which I'm all for.

But in reality that will never happen for a number of reasons:

a) they would still be able to hurt each other. Who is going to pay the public liability insurance? Who is going to pay cops to babysit the creeps?

b) no one in there right mind would want to live within earshot of such a place, meaning it has to be out in the sticks

c) they are not you average petrol head. They seek attention, so like to be able to cruize the popular areas which conflicts with (b)

d) these are teenagers we are talking about (at least in brain age). They wouldn't feel like it was very rebelious if it was government sanctioned.

others I'm sure you can think of...

I would read the thread but its too long....

I learnt my lesson the hard way....6 months (doing my time now) and 1500 later you learn a lesson...Nest time i reserve the speed for wakefield.

Mind you i drove rather sensibly until this one stupid occasion...

Just gotta realise that one occasion is all it takes sometimes. :!:

Even so, don't categorise it so Aussies can drive and Indians/Ricers/etc. can't... I know plenty off Aussies who can't drive well at all... the four years practice doesn't seem to make a scrap of difference.

:-)

:( It's unfortunate that in todays society there are some people who think they know it all. Im a P plater and consider myself a good driver. I was witness to a fatal accident around 3 yrs.ago now which changed my perspective on life!. The worst thing I realised that day was that I was 2 mtrs.away from becoming a statistic myself. If my dad had accelarated that little bit quicker away from the lights then it would of been us , and not the car next to us that was hit head on from a VL Commodore( P Plater) doing what I later found out to be 160kmh! ( In a 60 zone). It really is to easy to get killed on the roads. No matter how good a driver you are, some things just cant be avoided. I spent three years restoring my mini , so every time I get a sudden urge to take a corner that little bit quicker( as we all do sometimes) I think about the consequences and back off. Just thought I'd share that with ya'll.

Not all, i'm afraid.

There are still the few that drive em like road registered go-karts.

it wasnt even organised by us so plz take our name off that list!!!
it was a range of a lot of forums!
all we do is go out 4 a good cruise as a group and it aint out fault some plp do stupid stuff

all i kno the acco wasnt even cause by us at the cruise it was a commodore at the front that caused it all and a coulpe of our cars got caught up in it

if they really were drag racing up the front and slowing down traffic i really dont kno cause thats the 1st ive heard from that but i dont kno wat u saw!

Are you saying one commodore caused all the traffic chaos? :?:

The RTA actually stated about the drag racing..so it appears it isn't just a myth.. I don't think anyone on this forum is aiming the blame at the HOT4's forum just at the people who drive like dickheads regardless of the vehicle they drive ...
