Any stock Oz A series head without inserts and run on plain unleaded will suffer valve seat recession and maybe burned valves if driven hard.
I established this fact after I reconditioned a 202 head and my #2 son caned it for 6 months without additives, as instructed. :P
I still have the head as evidence.

If you don't want to use fuel additives, eg Flashlube, and the head is off, I'd get exhaust inserts fitted.

I reckon you should consider a cam regrind, it will cost you about $110 at tighe cams, a bit more for a gr cam and will make your cam much better all round.
There are cam grinds about that won't make the car at all uncomfortable and will increase your power and torque throughout the whole rev range.

If you have a bit shaved off the cylinder head to bring up your compression ratio it will do wonders for both your power and economy as well.

Awesome news Kirsten, at least it's something easy like a rocker cover.

As the good Doc and Miniman prescribe, if you run em in fast they stay fast :D

+1 to that sentiment.. you see lots of engine builds on Ausmini, but this one strikes me as one of the more impressive if only for the presentation. Tidy engine bay (wiring aside :? ), everything clean and nicely painted but the engine number pad has been carefully masked. Attention to detail goes a long way 8)

The credit must go to both dad and Matt - mini_mad_matt.

Matt took time out of his own life to assist with the rebuild.

Dad did a lot of cleaning and maintenance on parts and all of the paint work and attention to detail is credited to him.

The engine went in and started first go without hesitation.

However...it wouldn't be a mini if it didn't have an oil leak. That problem wil be rectified soon :P No biggy though.
