If it was made in April 1978, then its not a GT. :(

Have a look at the first page of this thread for some detailed info on identifying a GT.

I was just hoping like crazy that there was a mistake where that year was left out!!

Either was I am certain it said 1978, or it was 1975, which niether apparently produced GT according to the first page!

Is there anywhere i can use the vin number to find out whether it was a GT or not?

VIN number prefix for all the Oz Clubman GTs was YG2S8, so no it's not one..

With that prefix it's a Leyland Mini LS, either 998 or 1275... built 1978.

it looked nice but one part that worried me was there was a great big (and very dodgy) whole in the firewall where the twin SU's had been placed, and unfortunately my brother did give me the go ahead so another one bits the dust! Interior was immaculate, body nice apart from rear passagner panel, which looks like had rust removed, no gearbox and battery.

So if it suits anyone go take a look

Some suppliers 'may' have NOS stripes. A Sydney parts supplier has 1 only in GOLD (apparently)

Our VERY good mate Shane 'chopchop' may be able to knock up a set for a price.

I really want him to make me a set, but I need to get him some measurements to work with.... :D

According to "BMC Special Tuning Mini Cooper S" the correct needle is a "CP4". Whatever that means?

Hope this helps Anton.

Cheers,
BC.
