The picture above with the pickup on it seems ok at a glance, but you would hope for a remote control to operate the lowering as the wheel is right where the door is!

I've been through all of this as well. I started with a very light 3mx1.5 that I sold to someone on here. Brilliant trailer, towed well and you hardly knew it was behind you. Was bare bones and weighed less than 300kg on single axle. Downside, nowhere to store anything. You cannot possibly make a trailer that will tow a mini and stay under 750kg, but I would love to be corrected if thats possible.

I think this is Greg's old trailer, I kept a photo as it looked light weight which is great!

So, is this trailer 3mtrs long, or am i mixing up trailer/ post description.

What's the dimensions of the steel you used? Main frame and ramps section and draw bar?

I've started the build and will put pictures/ dimensions/ plans etc on another build thread, save making this one too long.

If anyone wants one built, I don't have a heap of work on and am willing to make one for whom ever wants to supply/ pay for the materials and drawings of what they want. It'll cost a heap less than getting a trailer mob to make one. PM me if anyone is interested, I'm on the Gold Coast

If you are willing to put your mini on the trailer backwards, you could have the trailer axle in line with the jacking point on the mini (approx balance point) and the tray could then be the minimum length to suit a mini and the longest part of the tray is forward of the axle and therefore compliant to regulations.

You can put it on forward, axle in line with jacking point, you just make load area forward. Bit hard to explain.

Will the point for the tie downs as you mentioned pass as being part of the trailer bed?

They work it out on the total length of the load area, the box is a load area.

Best Mini car trailers I've seen are the alloy tilting ones used by David Wheatley and Chris Collett for their Nb cars.
They are light, tow great and can be folded in half for storage.

I drove Chris's XR6, Mini and trailer part of the way back from PI on Monday. Couldn't notice it was there (except in rear mirror view). Am very impressed. :)

Trailer rear section is hinged and folds onto the front for easy storage. Tail lights and number plate are fitted to a portable light board which can be moved from the middle to the rear. Image
Unfold the trailer and lock in the latch to secure front to rear. Image
Finally release the latch on the front of the trailer to tilt the trailer and drive on - ratchet down straps over the front tyres.
